Yeah......that's why it's collecting. You're suppose to be willing to go the extra mile for it. Jesus you people complain about the most juvenile things sometimes

Jesus you people complain about the most juvenile things sometimes No collecting is a hobby that is supposed to be fun. And I can see where people having to get raped by scalpers would be annoying. But hey if some people don't mind getting raped for something that should be easily obtainable at mass retail...then good for them. I'm just not one of them. I will never feed a scalper one cent or otherwise. Again there isn't a single reason I can justify scalping.

But YOU chose to pay it. Nobody was holding a gun to your head demanding your wallet. It's a toy. Just a toy. Yes, I chose to pay it - as I wanted the figure and it was actually the cheapest option (she's £39.99 - about $60 - plus postage on the UK Wrestling World site). Having to pay $50 - $60 for a figure, or not have it at all isn't much of an option... If I had to pay $50 -$60 the option would be easy. I'd find another hobby. I'm not saying you should quit collecting, but the prices, while they have gone up, have not gone up overnight. I see people over here buying sports jerseys & video games, etc. for $60+ all the time. It's a personal choice we make to buy these things & you shouldn't try to make others feel guilty because they may live in a geographically better place for said hobby. Not insinuating that you do that, but a lot of the people who get on here whining about having to pay more for a toy just because they do not live in a country where they are manufactured are doing just that. Whining to make people feel sorry for them. Over here we have to pay a lot more for some things that are made on that side of the ocean. It evens out all in all. To be blunt, if you can't afford the figure, don't buy the figure. It's simple.

People who collect sports cards don't fuss when they can't just walk into a store and find exactly the card they are looking for. They hunt for it, and occasionally pay more to get it if they really want it. You want it to be fun, but I guarantee that the same people who are saying it's no fun to have to work for, I mean look for, the figures they want are the same people that whine & moan because they have to wait for the next series to come out. If it's too hard people cry. If it's too easy people cry. I believe Abe Lincoln said it best. "You can please all of the people some of the time & some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." Which group are you in?

Sports cards are a different beast altogether. When you go to a store you are buying packs blindly hoping you get what you want in the pack. Figures are released as singles which you know which you are getting when you walk into the aisle. That said I've never had an issue going to a card show and buying the cards I needed. But none ever cost me more than $5. Of course I've not really purchased any cards since the mid-90's when my favorite players retired. I've gotten a few autos since but haven't really purchased any cards. (just a couple Howie Long cards that have been released since he retired.) Except for the crowds going to card shows were quite enjoyable.
As for figures I enjoy going out looking for figures. But at the same time if I didn't want it enough to preorder at RSC (WWE) or spamS (DC Figures) and I can't find it at my local stores or TRU.com I just pass on it. I'm not going to pay some loser extra money for something that I should have been able to find on the pegs. But also I have never had to deal with that as there has NEVER been a mass retail toy I couldn't find at mass retail. Actually that's a lie. I never found the Batman Begins Movie Masters Fear Toxin Batman...so it's not in my collection. Maybe someday I'll buy one as I have no trouble paying extra for something that is long gone from retail, but I will not pay one cent extra for something that should be on the pegs now. Sure coming home time to time without finding something sucks, but there's no whining about it if I don't find something because I know I will find it eventually. And if like the Fear Toxin Bats if I don't ever find it who cares it's not like I wasn't living just fine without it to begin with.
And as long as I have fun collecting I'll keep doing it...but once it's not fun to go out looking and becomes more of a chore I'll stop. Actually there's very few figures on my wish lists left to be made for me to consider my collections complete. And for the most part I doubt they'll be made anytime soon. If ever. The one line I collect that I'll always buy no matter what is the Batman properties, but wrestling and other lines it's really short wish lists I still have.

The only time I do is when I preorder from RSC just cause I dont feel like waiting for them to show up here (since im not on the west coast or NYC, they take forever to show up).

the most rediclous thing yet has been the $40 basic ryback. I wish mattel would flood the damn market with him so all the scalpers buying him up can eat it
you got to be kidding me.
What's going to happen to the elite when it comes out? d

they are flooding the market with him. Many including myself have seen solid cases of the B27 figures being stocked.

To be blunt, if you can't afford the figure, don't buy the figure. It's simple. Fortunately, we (UK) are pretty lucky when it comes to finding Basics and Elites, so I don't mind paying $50ish for a figure very occasionally - especially if they're figures like Nash and Miss Elizabeth... I'd much rather them be made and have to pay $50 for them, than them not be made! (...if Mattel said they were making a Bobby The Brain Heenan figure, complete with weasel-suit, in Legends packaging - but they would have to charge $50 for it... I'd say - here, take my money!! ). And I don't think we/other countries try to make people "feel guilty" - it's just very frustrating when you see comments from people saying "I'm not paying $20 for Miss Elizabeth!" or "she's not worth that!" etc., when others have to pay over double that price.

Well you won in the end anyway. The Bills were horrendous last year, one of the most embarrassing seasons ever, and I'm a Bills fan.
