Watching The Simpsons, I wish Playmates still had the license.... I want a Glamorous Godfrey with a ring for my collection!
But on that note - got me thinking....
Would you buy figures of old time wrestlers like Gorgeous George, George Hackenshmidt, Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, those kinds of people? I doubt there would be enough interest from the general public, but I'd definitely consider it...
Thoughts?

Figures inc among others have failed. A few of us would but them but there is no mass appeal.

I would buy figures of Gorgeous George and ring gear Freddy Blassie. Other than them, I'm not too familar with pre-70's wrestling. At least, familar enough that I'd want figures made.
Hehe, I loved that Mr. Burns had his own wrestlng memorabilia room.

I really don't know much about older wrestling and same with much of the youth. But there would be a few guys I would buy from back in the days. Such as G. George. But these guys would not sell.

I probably wouldn't buy any of them. Maybe Gorgeous George if I had money to burn and I'd bought everything else. But it'd be lower on my priority list than pretty much any Mattel figure released so far has been. I'd probably buy customs before a Gorgeous George too.
Unless it was the Gorgeous George that managed Macho Man. I'd love a figure of her.

To be quite honest, I'd have no interest in that type of line at all.

Pre-80's wrestling doesn't interest me. I can appreciate it and the talent back then doing what they did to give us what we got in the business today, but back then, wrestling was too plain, too slow, too boring etc So I really have no interest to pick up any of the guys you listed, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't get them at all though. I'm sure in time I would have to buy them up just because of who they are, and when they wrestled, but I really wouldn't complain if they never got made.

They should give Buddy and Sammartino a try, but those would both be risks as it is. Sammartino's shot at success would be to get him out ASAP since there's so much buzz about him right now. I honestly think he'd be okay if they released him this year in Liz-like quantities.
As $10 limited release Basics, that might be the only avenue for most people pre-80s. I'd prefer Elite as most of us would, but it would be nice just to get a few of these pioneer or territory guys. Kowalski, Bockwinkel, Morales, and maybe a few more would be tempting at $10 given their simplistic looks. Unfortunately, it just doesn't make sense to do a lot of them at mass retail when so many people were simply too young to have watched them while they were active.

Sure, I would buy a few but they will sit warmly with Orton, Cena and Mysterio.

I wouldn't because I never saw any of these guys fight, and I'm sure many others would feel the same.

Her fig can come with a fake black eye from Savage from the whole weird abuse angle they did. It was cool to see Jakks make a few old guys like Bruno and Killer Kowalski, but there is no way we are gonna see guys like that from Mattel. I mean, I would buy them, just to be a completionist, but most folks won't.

I was just waiting....
