i enjoy the idea but there two ING EXPENSIVE Other toy lines treat the Build-a-figure as a bonus. When Toy Biz introduced BAF with Marvel Legends series 9, and Mattel with the transition from DC Superheroes to DC universe, the price didn't spike. Four extra dollars tagged on to 4 figures per set means I paid for the damn thing, anyway. It's a gimmick to make money, and I for one don't like it, I was glad to get away from collecting lines that do this crap. At least it's just an exclusive set, and even if it wasn't, the choice to collect them is still at my discretion. Overall, I guess the answer is, no, I'm not a fan, but for those who like it, I'm glad, and if I don't buy them, then I'm not affected and have no stake in complaining.

With the BAF Cole I hit a buy 2, get free sale. With the BAF Ricardo, I got them during the 50% off email coupon day. The price hike doesn't bug me bc I shop the sales.

the BAF series is a fun way to get figs that do not have mass appeal.
the only issue i personally have is that the 4 figures required are usually piss poor choices.
i am sorry for being so rude to MDT or whoever chooses the lineups, but they all suck. and you know the worst part? if you buy all four figures JUST to get the BAF, WELL GOOD LUCK trying to sell them off becuase umteen other collectors are doing the exact same thing.

I do hate having to buy 4 figures I already have just to get that one i want, but as long as i can get them for retail price or less, It's not too big of an issue for me then. They are only $21.99 per figure and are easily able to be gotten at TRU and tru.com

If they threw in more new figures of guys that are different from their regular elite line like BOPPV Bret Hart instead of repaint type figures it would be much better I think.

Nobody forces you guys to buy these figures. If you don't like the series, don't buy them.

Nobody forces you guys to buy these figures. If you don't like the series, don't buy them. Yup. I love the BAF series - the UK prices on them are insane, but sometimes they tie in with a deal so it's not too bad. The figures that you build are ones that I want, but I can see why they wouldn't work as standalone releases. And apart from the red Cena that was too similar to elite 14, I've loved all of the figures that come with the parts. I love how it makes the "I hate Cena" people buy Cena figures too.
