I only collect Elites and the only time this really bothered me was when there were 3 Red Elite Cenas in store at one time. (E14, BOPPV, Live Event even though that once is different it still doesn't move)
This was preventing stores ordering new stuff and that is what bothers me. Other than that the rereleases don't bother me but they would if I collected Basics.
To me it is stuff like this that can make Basics more expensive in the long run than Elites and here is why:
1. They come out more frequently therefore more gas in hunting.
2. Not all Basic sets hit stores. It may be a really long time but all Elite sets hit store shelves eventually sans a figure here and there. There have been some Basics that never hit my area, or did but it was such a small amount they may as well not have.
3. When you don't find Damian Sandow, Antonio Cesaro, or AJ the after market price can be far more expensive.
4. Less reapints. Sure they'll over pack guys like Cena, Orton, or Rey but other than the "Red Plague" that I mentioned above... they are usually different from a previous Elite release and will sell.

Latest Kane is another example. His basic and battle pack are identical. Yes, but Kane, Brock, Sin Cara were/are all figures that were popular...so the battle packs are just another way to get them on the pegs for people who can't find the single carded figures.
