This is just a hypothetical question for everyone. Say you are at work and some guy comes up to you and says hey you wanna buy this. It is a bunch of tools or something good that you want real cheap. You know its prob stolen stuff and the guy is trying to get rid of it at a discount for booze or drugs. Would you buy it? Why or why not?
I personally would prob buy it and just use the stuff. i know a guy who used to come across this stuff all the time the guys would sell their own tools or whatever for a drug fix and would get tools real cheap. MODS and Admins if this isn't allowed sorry.

I honestly don't know. If it was electronic goods, definitely not! If it was something that couldn't break easily, such as tools, then possibly! Good question

I had someone offer me stereo equipment really cheap, but in this case, I 100% knew it was stolen so I said no. In that case though, I guess it depends. I would work up conversation with the guy and see if he spills where he got the stuff and all that.

I wouldn't, because I'd constantly be paranoid the cops would show up at my home & arrest me for buying stolen merchandise

I would. If cops ever asked you, you could just say you didnt know it was stolen.

If I knew that the items were stolen? Absolutely not. I have too strong of a guilty conscience paired with slight paranoia for that. If the item was tantalizing enough, I'm sure I'd give it a second thought, but in the end I'd say no. If I had nothing but a suspension? I might, but I'd really have to consider the source. If it's a drug addict, I'd have a lot more than a hunch that the items were stolen, and again I'd have to decline.

I wouldn't buy them. Anyway one winter this shady guy in a van asked me if I wanted to by rock salt.

most likely the stuff is stolen..... BUT sometimes people do get desperate. for some fast cash, which sometimes they can not wait to get the true value of the item(s) & sell cheap to get their hands on cash. we dunno what struggles someone else goes thru.....

Actually it's considered "Receiving Stolen Property" here in Ohio and is certainly a crime. Depending on the amount of the items it could even be a felony.
I'd pass.

In high school my friend tried selling me a stolen ipod. I wouldn't mess with anything like that, especially if I was at work.

Honestly, if the idea of it being stolen property even entered your mind based on circumstance, then it probably is. And it IS a crime. Doesn't matter if you meant to or not. However, not knowing it was stolen and knowing could be the difference between being prosecuted and getting off scott free. The burden of proof is still on you though.
I wouldn't do it. If it is stolen and the wrong people find out, you'e either in legal trouble or you're gonna lose out on whatever it is and the money you spent on it.

Just the other day my brother was offered some 'Prada' sunglasses for cheap so he looked it up and it was a fake so yeah.. If people offer you stuff really cheap a red flag should go off in your head.

People who sell legit USUALLY do so via Craigslist or some sort of ad in the paper (or garage sales). Not that criminals don't too... but the guy who walks up to random strangers selling stuff is almost always selling stolen stuff.
So no, I wouldn't buy it.
