So for Christmas I recieved a nice little record player and since I have been building a little vinyl collection. I try and purchase at least one new one each check, and working a Hot Topic, the discount has been coming in handy. Any one else collect vinyl or LPs? My collection thus far is a little odd, but it includes:
Sleeping With Sirens- Lets Cheers To This Hank Williams Greatest Hits Kanye West- Graduation Memphis May Fire- Challenger Of Mice & Men- The Flood A Day To Remember- The Difference Between Me and You Hawthorne Heights- Silence In Black and White
I am also desperately looking for Senses Fail- Let It Enfold You, but Amazon wants 400 and Ebay wants atleast 100. Checked all over online but found nothing.

Yep! I visit my local record shop frequently... I can't recall the last record I bought was though.
Edit: I actually think it was Omar Rodriguez Lopez and John Frusciante on Transparent red. Pretty awesome record.

I've been collecting for about 7 years now. At last count I had about 2,000 albums....maybe 21 or 2200. Takes forever to count them so I don't do it all that often. I like it....it's a fun hobby, it's relatively cheap, and it gives me an excuse to hit every secondhand shop, garage sale, antique store, etc. I can find. I also collect vintage stereo equipment to go along with the records. I've got 3 turntables, 3 tape decks, an 8-track, a pile of speakers and a couple stereo receivers. Have fun collecting

My wife mostly does. I got her a nice console record player for Christmas last year, and we buy vintage albums for it. Rarely do we buy reprints of anything.
Mostly we buy original releases of our favorite artists or albums.
For Christmas I just gave her original vinyl releases of The Beatles White Album, Elvis Presley: Live in Hawaii, and Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. They were in great shape and they ran about $90 for all three.
Aside from Thrift stores and flea markets, antique stores are a great place to look as well. Fortunately I live in a college town, so there is an amazing record store downtown. Look around for a record store. The prices will be higher, but the condition and selection will be infinitely better.

So far I have nearly every Ramones album, bootlegs and studio releases and rare stuff. All the Roth era Van Halens and solo. Most of the Green Days as well as The Queers and Sloppy Seconds. I'm starting on Motorhead and other punk bands I enjoy. I really enjoy the annual "Record Store Day". It gives you a chance to get new released and whatnot. check out this site for when the next one: April 20th 2013! www.recordstoreday.com/HomeHere in Chicago every quarter or so there is a huge record convention that comes to town. At least two ballrooms full of people selling records.

I love collecting albums. I think I have over a thousand or so; like BigEvilNerd said; it takes so long to count them so I don't all the time. I used to work at Recordland here in Calgary. The place is huge with about everything you could imagine. The last album I purchased was Queen's "Innuendo."

And I've been to record stores from here to the west coast and all the way to the deep south. Lucky SOB

Do you have a Discogs account? If you don't then I highly recommend creating one. You can buy and sell albums on it. For example; this is what they have for Innuendo vinyl www.discogs.com/sell/list?master_id=19705&format=Vinyl. I prefer to buy albums in person so I can be sure of the quality but sometimes you have no other choice but to grab one online.

I love vinyl! Listening to an album's a bit more of a "commitment," as you can't easily skip to the next song or pause, but for some reason I love that about vinyl. Listen to a record the whole way through or don't, that's the way it should be!
Here's my collection:
Aerosmith Aerosmith
Bad Company Straight Shooter
The Beatles All My Loving / Thank You Girl (single) Beatles VI Abbey Road (remastered)
Big Brother And The Holding Company Cheap Thrills
Billy Joel The Stranger
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell (remastered) Paranoid
Boston Boston
David Bowie The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars
Def Leppard Pyromania
The Doors The Doors
Eagles Hotel California
Eric Johnson Tones
George Carlin An Evening With Wally Londo Featuring Bill Slaszo
Gerry Rafferty City To City
Jeff Beck Wired
The Jeff Beck Group Jeff Beck Group Truth
Joe Satriani Dreaming #11
Judas Priest Defenders Of The Faith (remastered)
KISS Alive!
Led Zeppelin In Through the Out Door Led Zeppelin IV
Peter Frampton Frampton Comes Alive!
Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon Wish You Were Here (remastered)
Queen A Night at the Opera
Queensrÿche Operation: Mindcrime Rage for Order

I usually only do it though when it's a specific album I can't seem to find but I really want pretty badly. I might do that with a couple of the later Queen albums now that I think about it. I've never seen a copy of The Miracle either.

Not really but I do however have 3 vinyls. Two of them are old sealed promo LP's that came from my Grandfather's appliance store and aren't worth much. I also have a rare 45 Slam Bamboo single which is a band that Trent Reznor was in before NIN
