I've been curious about this for awhile. It seems like Mattel figures aren't as glossy and are alot more prone to chipping without even having been played with.
Are the painted with different paints or sealed differently?
For all of Jakks inability to provide us with all of the attires deco, i never did get a Jakks figure with a smudge or paint chip. Everything was usually immaculate tbh.
Anyone else notice how many paint flaws Mattel figures have?

My Elite 16 CM Punk has a very little part of his hair not painted. Gonna fill that with a marker. Other than that. Nothing for me! Thankfully!

I actually had more paint chips with Jakks, especially figures with singlets. However one thing problem that I've had with Mattel are scratch marks. I don't know how to explain, but I've had several figures come with this problem especially figures with kickers. I kinda see what you're talking about, it seems as if Mattel uses more of a dull paint app as opposed to Jakks. Here's what I'm talking about:   |

That will soak into the rubber and ruin your figure. That figure has black hair doesn't it? Use black acrylic paint with a toothpick. |

I've noticed Mattels paint jobs are wayyy more vibrant and colorful than Jakks. As far as detail goes though Mattel takes the cake.

I've noticed Mattels paint jobs are wayyy more vibrant and colorful than Jakks. As far as detail goes though Mattel takes the cake. Really? I feel like Mattels figures have pretty dull paint. Maybe their sealant doesn't leave as much of a shine? |

I always had issues with Jakks chipping or sloppy paint in general. Not saying Mattel doesn't have their own issues, but it not even remotely close in comparison.

I've noticed stuff like this myself, definitely not the nicest paint app out there. However stuff like this is totally fine with me, it's when logos are smudged that i start to get mad. |

the figures are made out of different plastics.....so of course the painting is going to be different as well.

my brother in law got a E18 Brotus that has the bottom of his trunks with no logo on it. Could be just baad luck I have never had one like that my b6 Kelly had green dots and my b22 Y2j has blue dots.

Maybe their sealant doesn't leave as much of a shine? Your absolutley right ijn saying that jakks paint jobs left a much nicer shine than mattel. In fact, mattels paints are very bold and pretty much have no shine whatsoever.. I guess another adjective I could use for mattel is Cartoonish type paint jobs (especially when it comes to hair) |

I noticed more I quality issues in the last year more than previous years. For me it's paint blotches on headscans. Specs of the hair color on the face. My E16 CM Punk looked like he had Robert De Niro moles. I usually have to use goof off on almost every other figure.
I saw an E11 Christian that was so bad it looked like some one sipped the paint then spit it on his head using a Capri Sun straw.

I have always meant to ask this too. Jakks are very shiny and imo, look cheap compared to mattel. Mattel doesn't look dull, to me just look cleaner and more polished. Jakks figs come out so glossy looking in pics.
