I wanna start collecting but last time I ha people round I had 2 MIz figures displayed and I got mugged off for it, I only get 80 pound a month and I'm 17 so it goes on clothes and putting money away for driving lessons etc. What should I do about this + I'm not sure my family would approve. They'd class it as throwing money away on toys and to grow up as I'm in college now? What can I do? Cheers guys

Basically do whatever you feel like doing, that would be my suggestion.
On the other hand, if you feel ashamed in any way about collecting wrestling figures, then do not pick it up. Same goes for the money. Collecting can costs quite an amount of money, so if you can not or don't want to spend money on it, then you're going to have a tough time collecting the figures you really want.

I'd try buying what you really crave and just go from there. Buy one or two and see what you feel like. You can always sell them on if you're keeping them MOC.

Start with favorites first, spend what you can afford. Don't make collecting a chore and have fun while doing it

You need to prioritize. If you are earning your own money, paying your bills and putting food on your table, then you have the right to spend your extra money how you please. If getting a car, going out etc are more important, then I wouldn't try to collect right now.
As far as family approval goes, it's not their call unless they are giving you money to live on. If they are doing this, then spending it on figures wouldn't be the best thing to do.

If it's your own money, just be careful not to lose your head. Think about your hourly wage at work an how much time you would have to work to buy just one figure. Factoring in how many hours you work a week, is that a good deal or justifiable? It's all about what you want and what you need and how badly you want it. As far as what others think? Who cares? You shouldn't.
