i was able to go to NYCC on friday and there were TONS of vendors selling figures and collectables, not many had wrestling stuff but i was able to snag these bad boys. 20 bucks was a good deal on kofi and i paid 30 for mankind which is a little more than i wanted to pay(i rarley pay more than rtetail) but i figure he was going to be a pain to find and it was in the heat of the moment lol. they also had e17 ryder but no way was i paying 40 bucks for it,ill take my chances looking for it at retail. i didint bother snapping picks of the mattel show case becasue they have alreay been posted a few times but the stuff was cool to see in person. mankind is an overall great figure! they could have mad him a little more bulky, thats my only call out. i know ppl have been complaining about the lack of the ball jointed shoulder but hineslty i think the look of the shirt flows better without it and you don really lose any range of motion becasue he has added articulation to the elbow, he has a joint at the elbow where it can be moved 360 degrees. Kofi kingston is one of those figures that look waaay better in person because photos do not do this figure justice! mattel did a really good job with the paint apps and the colors really pop on his battle cat attire. the only thing i found a little off was the scuplting on the hair as it looks like he has flowing long hair in certain parts rather than dreadlocks "ive been looking all over for you battlec...uhhh...oh..." Jordan Hembrough was there filming toyhunter, thats was kind of cool to see.

All the vendors were really over pricing figs and wouldn't budge. One guy had a DI 8 Velvet sky for $35 and glow paint hardy for $50. Sdcc taker for $50. I was like all are on sale on Rs as we speak lol. I scored a loose Hawk for $15. Only mattel I picked up.

That's cool. I was tempted to pick up some marvel legends but I need to save my money for E19 and the RS Fest Stone Cold.

nice job grabbing the mankind. i sort of regret passing up mankind for $30 (probbly same vendor) but in the end, that $30 paid a good chunk of a nice dinner with my wife.
But yeah, I went on friday too. was pretty disappointed in the lack of wwe stuff - there were 3 vendors with mattels that i wanted - all VASTLY overpriced, overstocked and unwilling to barter at all. Offered one guy $85 for 3 elites and he straight laughed at me and did not counter offer. given, they were $40 a piece but dude had 9, i counted them, 9 E17 ryders and would not budge. all priced between $40-$50 EACH. what a scalper loser. got really turned off by the whole thing. Enjoyed the Con. lotsa wierdos worth the price of admission alone. saw some cool stuff but overall, these folks who scalp this stuff turn my stomach. consider me retired!
side note: expect a big-old classified post soon. i'll be selling off about 75% of my mattels and very few will be over retail price - while many will be below, some just about retail. not looking to make a mint on these. i know what i paid and i just want to try to get some of it back.

Believe it or not that is what Ryder is going for. Unless your lucky enough to find it at Retail (Which is the cheapest price anymore on figs, but with the most headache to find them) your going to pay $34.99 from all online distributors and booth sellers. That's if your lucky. Once a price on a figure has been deemed, especially if its brand spankin new, its not going to go down for a long long time, if at all. RSC does, Amazon, Does it, TW does it, Even Ebay sellers, and 90% of these board members do it in the classifieds. Thats what the hobbies become now. A money making scheme because the WWE is so popular and the figures are so popular and in demand everyones scalping and trying to get top dollar from them. I mean honestly, unless your lucky enough to walk in a store and find E17 first try or an elite series first try every time, your honestly spending just as much if not more between gas on numerous trips at $4 a gallon just to keep running back and fourth to find the damn things.

I'm not hating the players - well, i am, but overall i'm sick of the game. just done. been thinking about scaling back for a while and the Con proved to be my breaking point. I will still follow the line, even pick up a few here and there but this feeling of need, of having to "keep up" has just gotten be in a bad mood too many times. ESPECIALLY for current figs who are either A) already outdated by the time they come out or B) will be updated in another year or so or C) superstar will be fired within a year.

I just scored mankind for £18, reall lucked out on it. Funny thing is though, I've had him in my hands at TRU twice and passed but when I went back to get him he wasn't there. Really great figure and I cannot wait to have him finally.
Kofi looks great, only e17 I've not actually seen.

I agree, this hobby is a tough game as of late. I stick with retail for the most part and I am very fortunate enough to both live and work near all the major retialers. I can't imagine having to drive a long distance just to come up empty handed which I do 90% of the time anyway. This is exactly why more collectors are giving up each day.
I will admit that the last few weeks have been good as far finding figures. This is also thanks to being very diligent when figure hunting by stopping into stores each and everyday which most people don't have the means to do so. It is sad to walk into a store and feel very privileged when I do find something worth a purchase. Perhaps in time things will become easier. I also think Mattel in general just sucks when it concernes getting figures in stores. Unless it is an item that has a movie campaign behind it, but even then the "collector worthy" (e.i. Movie Masters) are hard to find.
BTW, I think Mankind's arms are better articulated since the bicep doesn't get caught on the chest when rotating the arm.

I had him in my hand with E16 CM Punk but could only pick up Punk. Gutted.

All the vendors at NYCC were way overpriced, and I don't even mean like scalpers looking to make a profit, I'm talking about idiots who must have been on crack when pricing their items. One guy selling old video games told me he wanted $100 for his console only Sega Master System, and I nearly doubled over in laughter, that thing ain't worth more than $20 even on the best day on eBay. NYCC was fun, but too over crowded this year, which made it very hard to enjoy anything.
