After many years collecting jakks I'm now fed up f waiting for the TNA line to improve ( I have enough sting and hogan reprints to last years lol)
Need to know which figures are the best, think of me as a Mattel novice. Picked up a few 'basic' figs (I think) Natalya, Barrett, yosi, bret, diesel (elite)
Are the elite like the jakks deluxe ?? Saw some flexforce (I think) but they didn't seem to good IMO
Anyway any info will be cool

^ Basically what they said. Elite style figures are like Jakks Deluxe figures in terms of better articulation. The difference is, the Elite figures are still in scale with the Basics, making it possible to display them all together and have them be in scale (rather than Jakks, where a Deluxe Rey Mysterio would tower over an RA Kane).
As for the "best" figures, I'm a late '90s kinda guy, so I recommend the Defining Moments Bret Hart and Elite 12 Kane (flashback). Also, check in Big Lots stores near you, since a lot of them are getting the Legends and Defining Moments figures in from older series, so you should be able to find good deals on older figures you missed out on.
***EDIT***
Since you listed that you have Bret Hart, I figure you might enjoy this. This was posted down the page yesterday, but it's my review of all the Mattel Bret Harts. It might give you an idea of which figures include what, and which one you like best.

I like the video you show a lot of detail!! I was a huge bret fan before he got screwed, it was the all pink rumble one that I picked up just cause it was the only one I could find but the defining moment one looks awsume! Hart foundation jacket is too cool! One other question are all Mattel to scale?? So mysterio is smaller than the other guys?? (Always something I didn't get with jakks)

Elites are the way to go. They are expensive but they feature top notch detail, articulation, accessories and overall look better then Basics. Not to mention the Flashbacks/Legends are made in Elite form aswell so you can have your favorites of the current day and your favorites from the past.
IMO mattels Elites are the best wrestling figures produced to this day.

Majority of Mattel figures are in scale, their are some that are kinda off scale like. Mr. Perfect, Vince and most recently people have said mankind. Overall Mattel produces some of the best figures possible but with a pretty steep price tag. Once you buy one you will be hooked

Overall Mattel produces some of the best figures possible but with a pretty steep price tag. Once you buy one you will be hooked This times 100. I bought one just to try an animation with (Defining Moments Undertaker, to be precise) and since then have bought like ten more haha. And to reinforce what he said above, yes, Mattel figures are scaled very well. As mentioned, there are a few exceptions, but it's easy to let them slide, since Jakks had everyone basically the same height. Rey Mysterio could look Kevin Nash in the eye with Jakks figures, but Mattel has the height difference done very well. And lastly, yes, Elites are the way to go. Every so-often, you should check eBay. I've bought some cheap Elites from there (mostly without the added accessories, just bare-bones figures and pads) but if you're just looking for plain, wrestling attire figures, it's not a bad way to go.

If the elite Rock was too costly, how Much was the Diesel you picked up? They should have been the same price.

Elite, Legends and Defining Moments are the best - They all use the same type of articulation.

I too have recently joined th mattel revolution. regret holding out because now I have to chase all the figures I have missed for the last two years. Helped out that biglots had the legends recently.
Im collecting the Elites and legends. Some basic figures if I think they are cool. Anyway let the hunting begin.
