Hey guys feeling bored so I thought I would start a thread where anyone could share their funny or interesting stories from figure hunting.
I'll go first
I remember when I was 12 abd had got back into wrestling in 2002, there was a Big W sale going in WWF Sunday Night Heat Jakks figures. So I decided to get a HHH figure.
My dad drove me to our local Big W store and waited for me in the car. As I went inside the toy section, the action figure isle was clogged with teenagers buying wrestling figures.
There were a lot of younger kids with their parents but the one that stands out the most to this day, was a enthusiastic mom trying so hard to impress her son by repeating this non stop, "HEY LOOK IT'S JEFFARTY, LOOK I FOUND THAT GUY YOU LIKE JEFFARTY ARE YOU LISTENING? ITS JEFFARTY CAN YOU BELIEVE I FOUND JEFFARTY LOOK!". (referring to Jeff Hardy) After repeating this nonstop the uninterested kids just says in a slightly upbeated tone, "cool, can I buy it?". The Mom replies with simple "no".
I just grabbed what seemed to be the second last Triple H figure and walked off quietly laughing.
Another one takes place in our local Sunday Markets. This middle aged scalper lady always sells figures overpriced. In 2004, my little cousin who was 8 at the time really wanted a RA John Cena (it came in a blue packaging) and nowhere had it. So he goes to that scalper stall at the markets and the lady says she will be recieving some next week and they cost $40.00!! My cousin wanted it so badly that he came the next week with 40 dollars, but it wasn't there. The lady said that it didn't come this week but it will surely be there the next week. One week after.. Nothing. The lady guarantees she will get it in the next week and put it on hold for him, she even takes his name and number... Rinse and repeat 4 more weeks with the same excuse each Sunday, my cousin gave up and put the 40 dollars in his piggy bank!
I've got more but I don't want to hog them up. Howbout you guys?

Best I can do is dig up that HHH from my dusty garage. And post a pic of it lol. And in the second story, my cousin never ended up buying that John Cena figure because it never showed up and he gave up lol

This is one is more about the dangers of a toy hunt or why you should buy online:
Years ago when ToyBiz had the Marvel license they had a Walmart exclusive series. So I was driving to my Walmart everyday trying to find them. One day I'm leaving and some woman backs up her SUV right into my car. It wasn't my fault and insurance covered the repairs but it was still annoying as hell. If I wasn't hunting figures I wouldn't have been in Walmarts parking lot on that day.

I have a few to share:
I got back into collecting in 2008 because of the CS line. I was trying to get everyone i could.I went into a flea market and bought a few CS figures from this guy who said he was selling his entire collection. He told me that he had this rare 2 pack of Hogan and Andre the giant and that he would sell it to me at the friend price of $40.00 . I left the flea market and made a quick stop at the local big lots and found the same 2 pack for $10.00 and i bought one. The next week he had the pack hanging in his booth with a $40.00 tag on it. He never took off the big lots sticker he just blacked it out with a marker.

every time i go to a retail store in my area i see the same grouping of figures ive been seeing for the last 4 months.
i think it's hilarious how much money mattel & these retailers are throwing away by not sending figures to stores that people WANT

I was at TRU last year during black friday. This lady was looking for a basic rey for her son. She asked an employee and he said sorry but we are sold out of him.I walk to the endcap and picked the last rey and handed to the lady. She was very grateful and said thank you. She then asked the employee if they had any Undertaker and john Cena figures. He very rudely said "no, they are go as well". I then pulled a basic cena off the peg along with the Undertaker/Kane back 2 pack and handed to the lady.
