So last week I got my shipping notice that the set of Elite 16 I ordered back on April 30th had shipped. 2 days later it was on my doorstep!
I also thank Ringside for giving me a ZR/DZ sticker, it's pretty cool looking and it's bigger than I thought it was going to be, it's a good 3 inches around:
So here's the set:
Now onto the individuals...
First up is CM Punk:
So happy to have a Punk figure with the BITW shirt. It's one of my favorite WWE shirts ever and definitley the best shirt Punk has had. I'm really glad they went the cloth route too. They also improved his tattoos on this one. Even though the attire is similar to E11, its still a great figure.
Diesel:
like everyone else I was pleasantly surprised when he was announced as a Flashback, but I had no idea that we'd be getting one of the best figures Mattel has produced since the beginning of the WWE line. Everything about this figure is perfect.
Kevin Nash:
Double Nash. Double the awesomeness. Again, they nailed it. Perfect job, from the different hairpiece to the painted belt.
Ezekiel Jackson:
I'm glad we got a figure of the big man, even though it appears his WWE career may be coming to an end soon (he's not doing ANYTHING of value and I could see him being released sooner rather than later) the new elite body is perfect for him, his arms are the right size, the new scan is awesome. I do wish the belt was shiny.
Heath Slater:
Again, awesome that we got an elite of the guy. His attire definitley warranted the fully detailed treatment. Plus getting the huge ladder is just awesome. I think there's something about the hairpiece on his figure that screams "pumpkin", but overall the detailed attire and ladder is well worth the price
The Rock:
Was a nice surprise to get 2 shirts, even though it wasn't necessary. The painted goatee doesn't look as bad in person as I thought it would. Again, this is a great "modern" Rock figure. No complaints, and the accessories are cool. I just don't like that plastic/rubber hybrid they are using now, it makes the shirts look and feel cheap.
Randy Orton:
I forgive Mattel for this one. They told us Orton was already in production by the time his E12 figure was filling our store pegs everywhere. It's time to take a break from Orton figures. This is as updated as we are gonna get. I never liked that Orton shirt, and I still hate the plastic/rubber hybrid. The figure fine for what it is, Orton's new scan is great. But I fear it's going to sit on shelves/pegs forever.
If Mattel was able to replace Orton with someone more interesting or an updated version of someone like Swagger or Santino this easily would have been the best Elite set yet, but sadly Orton brings down the overall quality of the set enough. Otherwise Mattel hit it out of the park with this set. Can't wait for E17!
