Just a random thought that crossed my head, thought I'd post here and get you guys' opinions; What is the best Batman action figure of all time?
There's some criteria to consider, of course; Sculpt and Articulation being the main ones, but also things like accessories, scale, and playability. For instance, I'm sure any of the Hot Toys Batmen would trump over any other Batman figures, but I tend to think of them more as "articulated statues with a boatload of accessories" rather than "Action Figures" so, yeah. For me, personally, It'd be a tie up between the DC Superheroes Series 8 black and gray Batman, which was a re-paint of the DCSH series 3 Blue and Gray Batman with a new belt; or the Dark Knight Movie Masters Batman, the first issue with the matte paint job. Although both figures lack some crucial articulation points, (double elbows and knees, for instance) and the Movie Masters batman came with practically no accessories, i think the overall quality of the figures makes up for it. I'd also toss in the upcoming Arkham City Batman by DC Direct as a potential third, but that's in no way a lock until I actually have the figure in hand.
So, fellow WFiggers, fire away with your opinions and be sure to give reasons to your choice. Thanks!

$200 Hot Toys vs $15 figure isn't fair, lol? This one might not be the best but it's a recent favorite, the TRU exclusive blue/gray Arkham City. I really didn't like this figure until I saw it in-store. My favorite Batman figures are usually in the blue & gray with the bat symbol over the yellow oval.

I really like Mattel's Arkham City Batman (the one that comes in the Batman Legacy two pack with Two Face). It's poseability is limited but the detail is just amazing and the headscan is spot on perfect. I also really like modern Batman from Batman Legacy series 1.

Im sure I will get a lot of disagreements here, but I think the first DC Direct Batman is amazing. It was the figure based on JIM Lee's HUSH storyline and captured this art style perfectly. Yes, there have been more articulated, more detailed figs to come, but something about this fig has always remained a favorite.

the batman I have on my toy shelf is this guy, definitely up there if not my favourite batman figure; cooltoyreview.com/photo.asp?image=/DCDirect/SecretFiles/Hugo/11.jpgIt's based on Bolland's artwork in the Killing Joke, which is one of my favourite Batman looks and of course, Batman stories. The ears are the length I like them, and his cape is over the shoulder's which IMO is the only way to go for Bats. I don't really care about articulation if the sculpt's good, and this figure is exactly that; amazing sculpt, poor articulation (typical DC Direct). for a well articulated Bats I think this guy is probably the best (or the black/grey repaint): cooltoyreview.com/Mattel_DCSH_S3_Batman.aspI also really like the newish Batman legacy one, and plan to pick him up real soon. I've always preferred the Black/Grey colour scheme tbh: cooltoyreview.com/BML-Batman.aspAs far as Batman figures go though, none are really spectacular to be honest, especially when it comes to well articulated ones. I blame the fact that Mattel have had the license for so long. I'd personally like to see a double jointed Batman, grey/black colours, and big over the shoulders FABRIC CAPE (preferable with wires inside so it's poseable)!

I don't think Hot Toys gets an immediate pass as the best just because of their detail. I've seen a lot of their figs up close, both loose and MIB, and they aren't without problems. In fact, I was excited about the '89 Batman until I saw how it looks in the package. That's one issue with Sideshow is that their inner packaging doesn't cater to the MOC/MIB collector.

DCUC 1 Batman. I also like the white Arctic Batmans from the movie and animated series lines. Where is PJ when you need him? I love his Batman figures.

DCUC black & grey (yellow oval emblem) Batman from the Gotham City 5-pk. I also still love Zipline Bats from the Batman line that preceded DCSH.

The one I had as a kid, it had a string at the buckle of Batmans pants. So you could pull the string/batbelt and hang batman in an action pose.

^ Do you mean this one from Mattel? I don't consider Hot Toys figures "action figures" because they are so high end...and not "mass retail". But they probably are the best and once they release an Adam West I will buy my first. lol To answer the question - I love the DCUC Series 1 figure. He's most like the Batman I grew up with in comics & cartoons in the 70's/80's. It is d@mn near perfect figure. Now that being said I think my "favorite" Batman is the 2003 SDCC Batman - If he had the DCUC articulation it would be a tough choice between him and the DCUC Series 1 as the best Batman released. I'll always have a soft spot for the Mego Removable Cowl Batman as it was the Batman toy I grew up with. Also I always loved the LotDK Dark Knight Batman figure from Hasbro - And last but certainly not least the McDonald's BtAS Batman figure. I've carried one in my pocket with me every day since I picked it up at McDonald's. How it looks now -

There's been quite a few from the Hasbro days. Many of the last few waves of Batman Beyond, but if I had to pick one it's the last figure in this pic of the Batman & Robin movie figure in yellow & clear purple.

For me it is the SDCC Batman removing his cowl.

Taking it off? Completely off? Or completely off with battle damage? I have the first and made my own of the second. But I would have loved the third

I think most of those Batman & Robin movie figs were pretty bad. But that one you pointed out really might be the worst I have ever seen. PJ you are an endless disposal of bat knowledge!
