actually met Goldberg last year and this was asked. Basically he said Mattel had said that he is\was on of the most requested for the legends line so with that understanding he said he should receive more compensation than a standard legend deal based on the demand. So Mattel wanted him to sign the same deal as Terry Funk, a figure I can STILL find at Kmart? If I were him I'd hold out, too. And he should be in the same ballpark as Funk seeing Funk is a true Legend. At the time all Goldberg was...was WCW's cheap answer to Austin. And I was a huge WCW guy. He had limited talent and was pushed way beyond what his ability was.

I'm pretty sure there is another thread on this website where you can talk about wrestling. I'm talking about Mattel making a figure that can be marketable. There are lots of reasons Funk still sits on shelves years later. Distribution being a biggie, but another reason is that he wasn't pushed by a major, international wrestling company the way Goldberg was. Plus Goldberg is more contemporary, which means he would likely reach a broader audience. You can argue till you're blue in the face that Funk was a better wrestler and a bigger legend, but that has nothing to do with his action figure (which is what we're talking about, NOT ability) sitting on the shelf two years after he got there. Obviously.

No it has to do with the line was called "Legends" and Goldberg isn't. And for him to say he wants to be paid more than actual LEGENDS (If that was true) then Mattel shouldn't sign him to a Legends merchandise contract because he's not worth Bret/Macho/Hogan/Austin money. Mattel knows what they need to spend on a wrestler to keep the line in budget and make a profit. And from what it sounds like if that rumor was true then they (Mattel) felt they wouldn't make it back. And that's all that matters.

Mattel doesnt care about who is a legend or not, they want who will make more money.

If you want to talk about semantics, fine. But the "legends" line, which is currently online only, wouldn't be the place to have Goldberg anyways. It is a place for a Magnum TA or Terry Funk (in the particular gimmick we got). Those guys could be bigger "legends" by your definition. Who cares what you call it? As a "flashback," though, just about anyone could have a figure. Even a debut Brodus Clay could have a flashback. As for the contract, which is what we're really debating about, I can see how Mattel might offer a certain deal based on their projected sales. Warrior got his own personal figure to sell. I can understand Mattel refusing to sign someone who wants too much. BUT, HOWEVER, whatever you want to say, if I were Goldberg, I would hold out too if I didn't feel they were offering enough. That's all I said at the beginning.

Mattel doesnt care about who is a legend or not, they want who will make more money. Yes, but what I'm saying is Mattel's not going to throw Bret/Macho/Hogan/Austin type money. Hiell Piper is a much bigger legend than Bill and they didn't shell out that type of money for Hot Rod so they aren't going to do it for Goldberg, because they (Mattel) know they'd never get the kind money back in sales that they paid to sign him. So until he comes down on his price they won't sign him as his asking price is out of the budget's range. BUT, HOWEVER, whatever you want to say, if I were Goldberg, I would hold out too if I didn't feel they were offering enough. That's all I said at the beginning. That's all I was trying to say....Mattel's not going to spend the type of money needed for guys like Bret/Macho/Hogan/Austin on him. So until he comes down on his asking price it won't happen. Sure he should hold out for the most he can, but he shouldn't be asking more than his worth. All that will get him is nothing. And yes I would buy a Goldberg figure.

I can wait, we will have a Goldberg sooner or later. Unless he signs with TNA and starts to wrestle again, LOL.

This sounds likely. He's a money/popularity hungry guy. TNA wanted him, but he wanted another streak and a world title run. He's past his prime. Where are you getting this? Goldberg has perviously stated that he would only sign with the WWE. And to answer your question in an interview a year or 2 ago, Goldberg was criticizing WWE in recent years. It's actually been reported on morethan one occasion that before, and after, Hogan came in, TNA was trying to get GOldberg for a short time. He asked for a crap load of money and some sort of udnefeated streak where he could go out on top and continue to build his own ego. He really didn't do crap for the business. He was just a huge draw. KEVIN ING NASH ended the streak. WTF was that? Should've been someone who NEEDED it and DESERVED it. Nash was already huge. So Goldberg's streak basically did nothing for anyone but himself.

BTW, what does that "POSSIBLE BAD TRADER" thing mean under your name? Serious question. it means he stole action figures in a trade from another member. agreed to a deal, got his end, and never sent cuz he's db
