Had a brand new Wal-Mart open in town, so made it a point to get to know the overnight stockers and toy employees. The workers were already aware of scalpers and were eager to assist a collector. So with that said, I get a call yesterday that Wal-Mart received 4 cases of Elite figures, which they'd hold for me before putting them out. ?? Whats the difference between you and a scalper, sort of contradicting your self their huh pal? what you do is the exact same thing scalpers do and they even pay the night stokers to call them when stuff gets in for first dips. Any way Funny to me. Big difference. Troubling you don't know difference between a guy buying some figs for himself and a guy buying cases to flip.

Makes sense. The dead horse needed more beating.... Hope is the more people that beat that drum, maybe Mattel will at least see it. But I'm not that naive, it won't change. In one sense, it make the hunt for figs more exciting, and the thrill of scoring that much better. But to walk away from 4 "fresh" cases and come away with not 1 figure, well...that is a kick in the bag!

My Walmart is flooded with E13 Mysterios Nice. Then you more so than anybody can feel my pain. Nothing worse than the excitement of being there to crack open a case, or in this instance 4 cases, and discover roughly 22 of the 32 figures are either E12 Del Rio or E13 Mysterio. Ahhh, the problems of a toy collector! Isn't everyone's stores filled with E13 Mysterio and E12 Del Rio? Plus E13 Sheamus and E12 Orton. Those two-per-case Elites are trouble. Maybe they should switch to 8 figures per series. Or 4 figures per series, 2 per case (though I know that would make people here unhappy, especially Legends/Flashback collectors).

Sorry but that makes no sense. I know when I was a kid growing up in the 70's I'd pick every version of Mego's Batman figures released (removable cowl, regular, Fist Fighter, etc) before I chose other characters to get. And I wasn't a collector back then. I just wanted the newest best version of my favorite character first. And all my friends were the same way. I'm sure kids today haven't changed that much. They have their favorite character and they'll always want to get the updated version, before they get someone else. Hell my daughter wanted every version of Sleeping Beauty dolls over the other princesses. Sure she wanted the others, but it was always the newest Sleeping Beauty first.

It was the exact opposite for me in the 90s; I got Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon and wanted as many different characters as possible. I usually avoided duplicates unless they were clearly different somehow (ex. normal vs super saiyan).

^^^ I started in the mid 70's and never had that focus on one character. The closest I can think of is buying the same character in different scales, like a 4", 8", 12" figure. I do remember having to rebuy all the original '82 Joes because Hasbro added the bicep swivel.

I usually avoided duplicates unless they were clearly different somehow (ex. normal vs super saiyan). I agree with this completely. I am an elementary school teacher and I talk to the students about toys on a regular basis. Kids want a wide range of characters, just like adult collectors. I'm sorry, but if given the option, I don't know any kid that wouldn't rather have 5 different characters as opposed to having 5 of the same guy. What fun is it to have Cena vs. Cena matches? In all honesty, most parents won't buy more than one or two of the same character for their kids. A typical parent is not going to spend another $10-15 to get their kid a new Cena because it has a red arm band instead of a purple one. When I was growing up, the only time I had multiples of any character in all the different toy lines I collected was with WWF Hasbro. I had two Hogan's and two Savage's and I only had two them because I spent my own birthday money to get them.
