Anyone else think we get to many sets a year? I mean we get 1 Basic set a month, Elites are pretty often too. Most other figure companies space their stuff out more.I think the line is getting to be filled with to many repaints and not enough new figures, we have almost everyone on the roster. I think spacing them out would make less repaints and new faces. What does everyone else think?

I think things are perfect as is. There's only so many roster members, so of course there's going to be repaints, but if you break it down we get: 12 basic sets per year 6 Elite sets per year 6 2pack sets per year 6 Legends this year Plus an unknown amount of TRU, KMart, & RSC Exclusives pop up from time to time.
They give you the right to pick and choose, its not like you HAVE to buy every single set they put out, you know. It's a lot easier to keep up with everything with the death of EG, DM, and Legends. I think where we're at now is perfect. Keep up the great work Mattel!

I would like to see a couple more elite series a year or a 2nd line of elites with maybe 4 figures a series that comes out a few times a year. Would be nice if MattelShop had some exclusive elites for their site also. Maybe 5 or 6 a year.

the collector in me says no. the rational, watching my spending me says yes.
im torn, i think too much hits too soon. if mattel could get their distribution right with all the retailers it would be so much better. like why did TLC hit Target in May of last year, but then hit Walmart in December? Why did TRU completely skip Elite Series 5-7....then 11-12, but are now stocking 13.
Then it seems like everything hits at once. We get Basic 13, Elite 12, Battle Packs, Exclusives...all within 3 weeks...than nothing for 2 months. If the distribution was more even it would be so much easier to manage

The problem is the price, not the frequency with which it comes out. Buying 4 figures at one time was commonplace in the Jakks days, now it will cost you a whopping $90 for a set of BOPPV Elites. Only slightly less for Elites WITHOUT BAF pieces. At those prices they can take all of their William Regals, Tyson Kidds and John Morrisons and shove them. Those figures sit around and hold up the new product because retailers wont restock until its gone and that leads to them not ordering certain series. Its at the point where main eventers like John Cena and Randy Orton are shelfwarming, so how do lower card guys (Reks, Hawkins, etc.) Or divas even stand a chance?

The real question is are they too expensive? This answer is clearly yes!

If you try to make master sets, I'm sure it is time-consuming and expensive. If you are only looking for 1st appearance figs, Mattel's schedule is probably not bad. If you are a single-wrestler/diva collector like me, you're probably frustrated that Mattel isn't putting out more, unless your guy is either Cena or Orton.
