Alright, so I bought a new computer about a month ago and decided to wipe my old one clean. It was only 2 or 3 years old, but I figured wiping it clean would be the best way for selling it.
I wiped it clean, all the way back to the prompt it does at the beginning for Windows Vista.
I get a call from my uncle who wants to buy the PC. So he tells me to load it up with some antivirus programs and a good internet browser.
I go through the five steps confirming Windows and boom, I'm in.
Now this is a Pentium Dual Core processor (2.50GHz) with 4GB of RAM, 500GB HD, Windows Vista and all that jazz. The point i'm trying to get across is that its not very old and the specs are still fine, if not great for typical internet browsing.
So I connect to the internet via wifi and I have about 4 out of 5 bars which is considered good quality, yet the internet loads EXTREMELY slow.
My first order of business was to install Google Chrome. Using Internet Explorer, it took me about 10 full minutes to get to the page to download Chrome and now I can't download it.
I run the file and it says it will take more than 7 hours to download and then it times out saying it failed to install.
What's weird is that my new PC is sitting right next to it, getting full bars and fast speed.
I've tried turning off my new PC to see if it would give my old PC a boost, but it didn't.
Why would my old PC that has just been factory reset already be acting really slow? Before I wiped it clean, it worked fine. Really fast machine. Only reason I upgraded was because I had some extra cash and wanted to splurge a little.
Kind of regretting wiping it clean because I had Windows 7 on it which was a one time upgrade thingy and now that its back to Windows Vista, everything seems to have gone to crap.
Any suggestions?
