Now we have 3 Hr Raws all the time but i never see any big special Smackdowns or specials where the Raw superstars will be there. Now i know its the B show but don't you think it might help them a little?

This RAW special isn't even that special. It's both brands and maybe I.R.S., Slaughter, and Snuka show up. It's pretty close to what Smackdown gets when they get a special show.

there has been some actually. There was the show live Smackdown where they moved to ScyFy. There was the 10th anniversary. Those are two I can remember right off the top of my head.

Why put the time and effort nowadays into making special Smackdown episodes, when every last spoiler about Smackdown comes out before the tapings even over?

Remember when they had the WWE vs. World Heavyweight vs. ECW champion on that SmackDown in 08? Triple H vs. Jericho vs. Matt Hardy
Guess who won?

Why put the time and effort nowadays into making special Smackdown episodes, when every last spoiler about Smackdown comes out before the tapings even over? Because if a show is worth going out of your way on a Friday night to see, people will watch it live with friends or DVR it. I think SmackDown has been great the past 3 weeks, but it gets low ratings (1.7 this week, I believe). However, people knowing what's on hasn't show to have a consistent effect on SmackDown's ratings because of just knowing the results/line-up ahead of time, because as recent as late February of this year, SmackDown got a 2.3, yet the system of spoilers about the show getting out was the same as it is now.

because its not the flagship show, it doesn't have enough viewers and plus, SD! can be spoilt, which if it's a special, they might plan something 'big' which can be ruined if the spoiler is leaked

Because USA pushes for the 3 hour Raw's, and Sci-Fi doesn't. Seriously.

The highest rated Smackdown in years was the week of Christmas where Smackdown was live on Tuesday.
I think the bottom line is people like live television....it has a different feel to it. Also, there are people who read the spoilers and won't watch if they don't like what's going to happen.
On live TV, you don't know what's going to happen, there is that feeling of "hey, it's live so anything can happen"....on Smackdown, they edit out everything they don't want you to see.
So really....how could Smackdown have a special? A taped show that happened days before it airs on TV that everyone already knows what happens....not really so special, no?

I agree. A taped show just isn't fun too watch, but Sin Cara wouldn't have it any other way

I really don't like that its on Friday night. It was much better on Thursday and if it was live on top of that it'd be awesome. But on Fridays a lot of people go out and do stuff. I know its over by 9 but I guess the only plus side is while the economy is coming back up, its a cheap way to spend Friday night.

Must be a mind reader because I was thinking the same, the last one they had was Smackdown's 10th Anniversary Special which was in Boston and that was pretty cool, but maybe they should try going back and forth with the specials.
