How would people feel if mattel removed it going sideways and had it like basics? Anyone think it might stop loose ankles? If it did i would be all for it. I don't play and just display so it really wouldn't matter to me all that much. I am would like to hear how others feel about it and maybe Mattel can hear us on it.

I dont play with them so I would prefer them all to be basic ankle joints.

I'd be 100% for this. I don't need an ankle joint in my figure. All it does is cause problems in the end. I'm completely fine with them being the same as the basic figures. I have never had a problem with any basic ankle joints.

Very interesting thread. I've been thinking about this for a month now. What would the difference be? If anything it would improve the figures. No loose ankles and figs falling over. I display only and would love it!

The side to side motion of the ankles isn't the problem. It's those few degrees of looseness in the main part of the ankle that can send an Elite tumbling down on its face like Ric Flair.

I kinda like the option of the ankles bending side to side, if I were to pose them in a certain way. Seems like I only have issues with both my elite Cenas and Triple H's....other than those the rest are fine.

That would be awesome. It would solve the loose ankle problem a few of my elites have.

I think it would be a very good Idea!

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't have a problem with the Elite/Legends styled ankles. The only figure I've had fall is the custom Hogan I made.

If it brought prices down, I honestly wouldn't mind.

My basic Benjamin has a loose ankle funny enough but none of my Elites have one thats that bad, its easy to fix and I prefer the Elite ankle.

I've had no problems with loose ankles out of my 20 something Elite figures
But even if I did, the side to side articulation has no effect on how the up and down motion works and would certainly not want to see these things have even less articulation then they already have

My Elite Swagger and Cena barely stand up... I wouldn't mind them having the same styled feet as Basics. Especially if that means they'd be swappable.

The only Elites that I tend to have issues with are ones that have been packaged in a pose. I either end up with loose ankle joints, or warped limbs. I know it's great for the motc collectors, but I don't like having to water treat my figures just to fix their warped joints.
I like the ankle joint, though. I'd rather mattel just find a way to tighten the joint than get rid of it.

If you start taking away articulation then they're not really elites anymore are they. It's all part of the poseability and playability of the figures. If anything I find that ankle joint makes them sturdier and easier to display in a variety of poses.

I would prefer they just changed to the Basic ankle joint.

Yeah I gotta say this joint has caused me a couple problems with standing up figures, especially Batista, Undertaker, Kane, and Vader
