I saw on the checklist here that Ric Flair is scheduled to be in the next "Entrance Greats" line-up... does this mean Mattel can make figures of him and Hogan (and guys like Mick Foley) - or do they have to wait until they leave TNA/aren't under contract?
Cheers.

Nobody really knows whats going on with Flair. He was scheduled, but it seems to be either canceled or delayed. But the interview from the other day eluded to some more big surprises so it could happen.
Plus both Hogan & Flair could use a payday, so I'd assume they'd be all for it.

This does seem like a weird thing for them to come out with WWE Mattel figures while currently signed with TNA. But if they do I guarantee that mattel will definately out do anything Jakks does with them

Well it was i believe originally slated for Entrance Greats Series 2 but was pulled since he signed with TNA. He more than likely didn't even make it to Prototype stage. I left it on the checklist as possible future Entrance Greats but odds are it won't be released unless he leaves TNA. The figure was initial listed on January 1st on Toys R Us's Website but was quickly removed.

Flair, Hogan, & Foley = all people I wish would leave TNA just so we could get their Mattel figures.

Flair, Hogan, & Foley = all people I wish would leave TNA just so we could get their Mattel figures. agreed. I think they are fun to watch on TNA but I rather watch Mr. Anderson and Pope promos than a flair and hogan promo that i have seen for YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS! so yes I wish Sting, Flair, Hogan, Nash and foley would all leave so we can get mattels of them. Jarrett is the only one because he is the founder of TNA. that's like Triple H leaving WWE to go to TNA.

Hopefully not. Mattel would butcher and ruin them just like they do with every other figure they have made.

I agree that some of their figures suck but they put a crap load of dedication and effort into them. Jakks USED too. the TNA figures look great but if they had that effort like they did, they would be scaled and look less bulky

If Jakks can release an Andre the Giant figure under the TNA brand I wouldn't see why Mattel couldn't release a Hogan or Flair under the WWE brand.
I think a lot of the legalities arise when certain people own their character trademarks or use their real names. I know WWE owns a lot of their performers character names which is why you see a lot of guys under different names once they leave WWE. So since WWE owns their name and character likeness they can do whatever they want.
WWE was releasing merchandise of Flair and Hogan up until the time they signed with TNA and I don't think that signing with another company makes those merchandising deals automatically void, so I'm sure if WWE really wanted to they could do something.
I think the reason why you DON'T see WWE releasing figures of guys who are in TNA is because WWE simply doesn't want to promote guys who are in other another company.

Jakks isn't promoting him under TNA... It will either be under NWA or New Japan. Also, Andre is a totally different situation as he is dead and I assume his estate has a non exclusive deal directly with the toy companies. Hogan, Flair, Foley, etc. are under contract to TNA. That means no company other than TNA can make merchandise of them. a few years ago we got Nash and Sabu figures from both companies at the same time. But that was a different ball game and TNA had almost no exclusive deals. Now they are much tighter on such things. So it will no happen.

They could do it because Andre the giant is signed by both Jakks and mattel but I don't know I really hope we do get them though

it really depends on what there contracts say & being on good terms with everyone. for example nash & vince still talks. i wont be surprise at all to see wwe make another diesel, razor & kidd figures again. but hogan will probably never see light again with wwe while with TNA because vince was pissed off he signed with them & after showing hogan love & respect after his devorse. Also vince was after the full rights to the hulk hogan copyrights to do what ever he wanted with the name merchandise & etc so he wouldn't need hogan's permission.

NO! How many people have asked this ing question, and it is the most obvious ing answer, NO! They are under contract with TNA, why the hell would Mattel make figures of them? Some people are so ing stupid...

Some people are so ing stupid... I seem to remember Jakks putting out a few classic Kevin Nash's while he was signed to TNA. Im sure they could sign Hogan and Flair but like another member said WWE doesn't want to promote people that are in another company.
