So I haven't posted...in I dunno how long. I sold my JAKKS collection off before the lin ended and thought I'd be done.
But I've been really impressed by Mattel's scale differences, paintwork and scans thus far...so I am slowly getting sucked in. And the Classic announcements (MACHO MAN!) have been impressive.
I've been particularly impressed by Mattel's Divas thus far. I like that the body parts are being mixed and matched, and that there is an attempt at creating height differences (Beth/Mickie). But, probably my favorite thing (and this will sound a little odd) is that Mattel isn't giving ALL of the Divas that awful tan/latina skintone that JAKKS began to use across the board (only on the women and not the men, oddly enough).
Anyway - I'll be honest...I'm not all that up on the current roster, and not all that interested in getting to know most of the new faces. But if Mattel started including Divas in their Classic lineup - I'd be in, buying up that Classic stuff like crazy. Cause classic (and semi-classic) is the WWF (and WWF) that I am a fan of. THe current stuff - not so much.
So here's a list of the Divas I'd like to see included in the Classics lineup. It'd be great if Mattel started working in the Classic Divas in nearly every assortment just like they are starting to do with the current Divas.
Here are my Top Ten, and the outfits I'd like to see them in. Some of the outfits have been made before, but I feel they are most iconic looks for the ladies.
1. TORRIE WILSON. I know Torrie isn't everyone's cup of tea, skills-wise, but she was always a fave of mine and was one of the longest running Divas the company has ever had. And, even if you don't like her - she was the company's cheesecake darling - all over the shows, shoots and magazines.
2. LITA. Lita was a huge personality while with the company, both as a babyface and her later run as a heel.
3. TRISH STRATUS. Trish is easily one of the most recognizable Divas the company has ever had, even if I wasn't her #1 fan.
4. CHYNA. Her post-WWE career aside, Chyna was a huge presence in the company and I'd love to see a great figure of her.
5. SABLE. The reigning female Diva from the Attitude Era. She also made a return years later in her feud (and Playboy shoot) with Torrie Wilson, looking just as good.
6. MISS ELIZABETH: I know there are some issues with her family signing consent, but now that we are getting Macho Man, surely there is a way that Mattel can monetarily appease the family so that we can have his consort, and the precursor to the Divas as we know them.
7. IVORY. I love Ivory. Awesome grappler, and a great heel as well as really likeable offscreen. Forget Stevie Richards - Ivory WAS anchor in the Right To Censor.
8. WENDI RICHTER: Now that she is in the Hall of Fame, I assume whatever rumored beef she had with Vince is squashed and hopefully we can get a figure of the queen of the 80's.
9. SUNNY: The other major female star from the Attitude Era. I dunno that I am a fan of Sunny - but she is surely deserving.
10. Molly Holly: A fan favorite. Who doesn't love Molly (in one incarnation or another)?
