Someone on the stalker board "Marked Out.com" said they talked to Magnum TA and he signed a deal with Mattel for a legends figure?
Did Jakks really lose a major NWA name for the NWA line?

I'd much rather have Mattel handle Magnum than Jakks.

maybe Mattel offered him more money than Jakks could afford. Don't forget TNA is a smaller and less popular organization compared to WWE. I'm sure Jakks would have tried their best to sign him.
still, i think most fans will be pleased we are getting a new figure of him, even if they'd rather it be Jakks style.

I know there are going to be a ton of Jakks fans who are upset about this news. Magnum TA belongs in scale with other CS figures.

Interesting. We'll have to see. I think for a while it will be a bidding war, but eventually Mattel won't be able to sign everybody. Jakks will go after the others. Hopefully they can start doing some Japanese guys.

If I were Jakks I would stick exclusively to the A-list wrestlers, they are going to have a hard enough time selling figures as it is.

Jakks still has many years with the NWA Legends line. I'm sure once his contract is up with Mattel (don't know the limits on it) he will sign on for Jakks as well.
Maybe the Mattel contract is based on the amount of figures they produce of him or maybe it is exclusive for a couple years.
Maybe it isn't even exclusive at all.
The only problem is that we'll just have to wait a little longer for a Jakks figure of him.

He should have been on the top of Jakks list. But, I'm glad we are getting a Mattel Magnum. Should look great.

I think whoever Mattel wants to sign, they will be able to sign (with the exception of the TNA guys). They're Mattel, plus they have the WWE behind them. Weren't the LOTR figures originally the NWA LOTR?

I know there are going to be a ton of Jakks fans who are upset about this news. Magnum TA belongs in scale with other CS figures. The CS figures aren't even in scale with each other so what does it matter? I can't imagine any CS collectors really caring about scale anyway. It's definitely the wrong line to collect if you care about the scaling of figures with each other.

A few weeks ago I would have agreed with you, but it's been confirmed that the Honky Tonk Man has signed with Jakks/TNA and he's in some Mattel lineups recently as well so who knows how all this is gonna play out.
