Hi Guys
Whats the difference in "rarity" between the standard J hook and butterfly hooks on Hasbros? It seems to be series 1 mainly that have the butterfly hook as well as the more common J hook
Thanks

Good question, I'd also like to know if one fetches more than the other.. I have a spare set of the whole first series in butterfly hooks, and also Piper from series two. I'm always on the look out for others.

Butterfly hooks are the UK cardbacks of Series 1 & 2 figures. They were released overseas and through KB Toys; with and without import stickers on them. They are neat to collect and own, but they are not considered part of the US releases as they shipped years after their original production run.

I refer to them as european cardbacks as they were available across Europe. I saw series 1 in 1990 for the first time, not exactly years after the original production run.

Does that mean, in terms of numbers, that a butterfly hook written in English is rarer than a J Hook released in English?

The butterfly ones are much rarer, but not preferred by collectors as much. There just aren't that many collectors that go after all the card variations. I always liked collecting all the variations in cardbacks because I tend to be a completest.
