I tend to believe that they're real, although I guess paint can be removed from an LJN figure to make it look like a prototype.
I have had e-mail contact with this seller and he has a credible story.

I don't want to ruin that sellers auction because I don't know anything about him. But being a sculptor; it is extremely easy to recast any of the ljn figures if you know what you are doing. Again, I'm not saying that auction in particular isn't legit, but it is certainly not an overly tedious process to duplicate a solid colored piece of rubber in order to make a couple hundred dollars profit.

I haven't dealt with that seller, but I have followed their auctions, and they have had lots of other prototypes and employee items. Lots of it is from LJN lines.

These are 100% legit. If these were resin prototypes, then you might have a problem. That's VERY easy to produce. The only rubber that you're gonna find to do this on a small scale is urethane and it's not same thing. You'd need lots of money and manpower to cast in vinyl. In fact, hot melt/plastisol vinyl is the only type of vinyl can be used out of a small shop. It's also nasty, and very toxic. I use all kinds of rubber material and the only ones that are readily available are latex, neoprene, silicone, and urethane. Outside of a special type of urethane rubber(VytaFlex & ReoFlex are the 2 that I use)...they're all useless for making figures. The materials alone (molding, casting, and time) would cost more than the figure would sell for. The Snuka figure also has flex wires inserted. You aren't gonna bootleg that aspect. This is as far as I've been able to go with casting rubber for figures on a small scale (pink scrub tops about an 1/8" thick).

I came across this item on Ebay a few years back. It was the mold for the LJN SGT Slaughter. But it was never produced since he was fired by Mr McMahon for striking a deal for his own figure the very rare G.I.Joe mail-away that has been adopted as part of the LJN series.
Check it out.

Sell a few as well to true collectors.

I agree I would've made the molds and been selling them or giving them away to collectors!!!

I also remember the price being ridiculous. It was near $2000. It was said that particular Slaughter was made using the mold from the Jimmy Snuka LJN.
