What do you mean "get away? They were never close to it to begin with. Martial Arts existed before MMA which is where most of those "real" submissions we see come from. Wrestlers have been doing keylocks, kimoras, heelhooks ect way before MMA was as big as it is now. Heck, the SD and AKI videogames have them in there and they were made in the 90's. Undertaker is known to be a big MMA Fan. Hence why he wants to replicate one in pro wrestling. Kind of odd undertaker just in these recent years started to become more and more like a replicated mma fighter.. How convenient that MMA is getting so popular.. Submissions we see comes from BJJ. Rorion Gracie started UFC and his father created BJJ. Gogoplata is a real choke made famous by BJJ fighters. Same thing with the anaconda choke. BIG nog made it famous in Pride. Amateur Wrestling don't use submissions. Oh yeah randy ortons head kick is what the "MMA" call soccer kick. WWE is saying they trying to be something completely different then MMA? Then don't replicate there moves if you are trying to be something different. I'm not trying to be a dick but I know all of those things man. Although I do appreciate you breaking that down for me and i understand what you mean, i think you may have missed my point. What I was saying was that I don't get why people mention the two as if they're supposed to be competing with each other as far as substance goes. I mean I've seen and heard people make statements like "This is why I watch UFC now. WWE can't even compete." I don't get that.
