- When talking about why WWE made the switch to PG on MercuryNews.com, Vince McMahon had the following to say: "We just followed our audience and tried to listen to them. It's a more sophisticated product. It's just the right move business-wise, but more specifically the right move in terms of reaching our audience." Vince was asked about MMA and UFC becoming more popular and said this: "You really can't compete with that. Why not deliver a more sophisticated product and not go to those extremes? If the audience wants those extremes, they know where to go and how to get it." Read the full interview here.

Exactly. If Vince listened to the audience, Maryse, Maria and Mickie James would be wrestling each other naked each week.

That's like saying: "Well, why would you want to see Catherine Heigel nude, when you can see any slut nude?" It's because a random Porn Star is not WWE Divas.

is this a ing joke he listened to the auidience yeah right nobody wants pg they are basically ruining what wwe was ppv wise they had some good ppv names but no they listen to 5 year old kids who want gay as hell ppv names and stipulations News Flash!: The only ones who aren't enjoying the PG thing are the IWC (meaning us) There are alot of us who don't mind the PG programming with me being one of them. i just watched a replay of this past Monday's Raw with my fiance(20) and her little brother(12) and they were really into the show. They're reaching the audience that matters at the moment. That audience (though it may sometimes be unfortunate) isn't us. I've had general discussions with casual wrestling fans on many occasions since the inception the the PG rating and never heard a mention of it. Why? Because the average fan doesn't care about having more swearing in promos, blood baths, and 1pm Cinimax worthy smut. They suspend their disbelief for two hours and enjoy the show. If you can't do that, then do what McMahon suggests as you know where to find other product.

I want to enjoy myself and root for my favorite wrestlers for 2-3 hours and thats all that matters. Honestly the wwe has been 1,000 times better since going pg. Wayyyy more focus on the in ring product.

I don't see where the WWE is sophisticated? Is Vince talking about the Hornswoggle vs Chavo matches? lol If he thinks that the WWE is a sophisticated product right now he truely needs to retire. I think the pg rating is okay but you have to find a balance in your audience. You need to target the new but still cater to the followers who have been watching WWE for years.

I don't mind the PG rating. Yes there are somethings that bug me like the latest PPV name changes and the lack of blood in a hell in a cell or any more violent than usual match Just because those matches need to make it feel more dangerous and more special a little blood never hurt anybody. Like on this past RAW I didn't like when HBK talked about having staples in his head after the hiac match from the night before and everyone knows he was never busted open that just makes the fans look stupid. As much as I would like the divas to be wrestling nude I think they have a more classy look now and don't look like a bunch of random hookers from the local strip club. There are somethings I miss and that I would love to see back but I think overall WWE is still entertaining and fun to watch.

Anyone ever think that by "sophisticated" maybe he could've mean that being the opposited of sleazy smuttish television. Compared to the product before PG, sophisticated isn't such a bad word to use in my opinion.
Let us not forget that this is the same program that at one time gave us HLA and a "live sex celebration". Compared to that, I'd say Vince has it right.

Vince is a smart, smart man. He knows exactly what will sell and won't. By going PG they made Cena the "super hero" and it could not have been better for him, yeah the internet idiots don't like it but are they going to shows? Yes. Are they watching it everyweek to see him get whooped? Yes. Are kids watching and going to events too? Yes. Is vince selling a crapload of merchandise to kids who love and want all of Cena's stuff? Yes. So why wouldn't they keep it PG and go with it? I think it takes more effort for them to put on a PG show since they can't just throw a bunch of pure crap and have people eat it up like HLA and all the other stuff.
