Does anyone know where I can find/track down the bootleg figures that came out mid/late 90's by Mannix ? I esp want the diesel figure.
I found out over the weekend a family friend used to work for a import/export toy company for around 4 years back in the 90's and had dealings with China and Singapore.
I knew he was is a big toy collector Star wars & action man and all other kind of action figures cause the rest of my family always teased about his huge toy collection, I never really had a chance to talk with him until last Saturday, was always just hi and bye, but he was down for the weekend for my sisters engagment do and had a lengthy chat with him about the toy/model industry and his collection (he mostly went on about star wars cause he's mainly into that scene) BUT and a big but we had a really interesting talk about the WWF hasbro line.
I found out he used to have a complete set of hasbros loose and carded. But he sold all of his moc around 2000 on Ebay to raise funds for a speed boat (Who knows some of you guys might of bought some). But he still has a complete set of loose inc all 3 mailaways and a few protos, Guna get him to email me some pics. Also he was telling me about a company called mannix that inquired some unrealsed sculpts of Hasbro heads that were in the production line for the next series of hasbros before they lost the liesnce. He told me as the heads wer unused the company called "mannix we able to use - the sculpts of the heads but not the bodys (due to copyright) and released a bunch of around 6 figures in the mid to late 90's. But again the company mannix were not aloud to use the name "wwf" on the packaging for legal reasons. So these head sculpts must be what ws planed for series 12 of hasbros. Does anyone know where I can find any, I've searched the web and ebay. I would love to get my hands on them even to just remover the heads for the body and display the heads next to my loose hasbros. He told me they even put out what would of been Hasbro diesel head on a cheap plastic body !!! I begged him to sell me his one (he hs the whole set) But he said he wants to sit on them as one day all hasbro collectors would need them to complete their collection and would be a investment.
Love to hear ya thoughts

I really don't think that these are un-used hasbro heads. They just like cheap knock-offs. I have the 'Razor' figure, and it is awful! hehe.... ....Of course, if anyone want's to buy it.....it is a GREAT figure, and I would need to charge a lot to get rid of it!! haha

The heads clearly look unmatched with the cheap looking bodys, they are to scale with the hasbro heads and have the same detail as the hasbros, where as the mannix bodys look cheap and thrown together... also from a few different people I have heard that these are unused hasbro heads.... anyone else's thoughts

Interesting thought. I wouldn't have thought Hasbro wouldnt've made new moulded heads for Lex Luger, Shawn Michaels etc when they new the contract with the WWF was due to expire.

Interesting thought. I wouldn't have thought Hasbro wouldnt've made new moulded heads for Lex Luger, Shawn Michaels etc when they new the contract with the WWF was due to expire. Yeah but going by that logic you may as well dismiss their being any plans of a 12th Orange card series if they were well aware about losing the contract with wwf... I mean how far along was production or what plans did hasbro have before they knew a contract was not going to be reached thats the big question. My thoughts on it all is that A company like Hasbro and the fact they were 4 years along with the wwf toy line, they would of had plans way beyond the green cards and prob at least 2 0r 3 waves/series planned. Now prob say series 13 and 14 would of been just at a sketch stage or even a list of names that were part of the active WWF roster at the time of 1994. But I strongly think the next series after green (the famous rumoured) Orange carded series 12, would of been way way past just the artist sketch stage and prototypes/moulds would of been made, I very much doubt a production run had started though because being 15 years ago by now something would of surfaced to the collecting public. The sad thing is that if prototypes were made (and i believe they would of been) Theres a very good chance they would of be destroyed, but a nice thought of mine is that none of us on this board even know about up in a ex hasbro employee's loft what could be lerking and one day some light could be shed and they could be revealed to us ! Back to those mannix figures... Theres no way to actually know for certain without someone that worked with hasbro around that time in the wrestling figure dept to confirm weather or not those head sculpts were of that of a hasbro employee, I'd like to think so...

I think Mannix just made the figures look as close as possible to the real life character without infringing on any copyrights.... How many times have you seen a figure in your local discount/pound store as part of a set which looks just like Hogan but isn't actually an official figure? I think that is what happened here, then when Hasbro lost the contract for WWF figures, the legend of the Diesel head began

Only the bootleg Diesel head could qualify as "unused Hasbro-head"...

Only the bootleg Diesel head could qualify as "unused Hasbro-head"... I agree - the Shamwn head for instance is a very poor effort compared to the released hasbro's, the same for the "Adam Bomb" - it's a nice idea but i just can't see it to be honest
