i would like to think so, it was surley for something that didnt materialise, a cage would have been really cool.

which slots are you talking about, just the standard mold on the outer skirt? Id love to think it was for a cage, but there was never any proto shots. My honest opinion would be that they were just trying to create some what of a ripple effect, much like the 'skirt' in the other post on the 1st page. If your talking about something else, please elaborate..
cheers

ahh mate, id have loved a cage, and like you say, i nice blue one. Even if a cage was produced, they prob's would have messed it up, much like a yellow ring... yellow wtf? Its tricky to say if they ever had this in mind as it wasnt announced (at least from what i know) if anyone has any proof that hasbro had any plans... do share.

I had a thought about the yellow colouring the other day, now some of my dates might be off here but bear with me, i have an idea. The WWF wanted to fill the gap between wrestlemania in april and summerslam in august so revived the KOTR tournament and made it into a pay per view format. this is around the time that Hogan etc. moved to WCW, maybe making WWF think they had to up their game as it were. The colour for the KOTR ring is so distinct it had to be done for a reason, maybe to distinguish between itself and the original blue rings to gurantee massive sales of the ring but also to build a good solid following and "brand identity" with the new PPV format? Am i thinking too much abuot this lol??

yeah you are only messing paul.. i defo agree they wanted it to stand out from the other ring, i just cant understand why they needed to make it such a stupid color. But i suppose hasbros are seen as 'cartoony' and the yellow ring fits in with that 'whacky' scene.
