i'm not sure this should go here, but here goes:
i have decided that when the switchover between jakks and mattel figs happens, it'll be around the same time i'll be going to uni, when i'm 20
i will collect jakks figures up to then, but i think i will not buy any ones after the last one is made apart from maybe those i didnt get the chance to buy
i will keep my collection, take them out every so often and look and possibly play with them, but not collect them any more for three reasons:
1. i'll be 20 and i'm getting too old for this 2. the mattel figures won't be in the same scale 3. with the credit crunch as well as being independant, i will need to save as much as possible
it is really sad to realise that my hobby is comming to an end, and i am wondering if this'll happen to anyone else

Dude, this is lame! Why ending? Switch to customs. If you think you're too old now, what will you do when you're 30? What is going to be lame next?

Im contemplating stopping when Jakks stop doing WWE if they do RA TNA figs then i will get a few but if Mattel dont sale it like RAs or even TTls then thats it for me, apart from old figs i didnt get when released for other reasons i also have no money, no job and im 17 next month which isnt to old for figs but it isnt like im still 9 years old anymore

I'm gonna wait and see what the WWE mattel figures look like first before I make a decision.

I can totally understand. But your turning 20 shouldn't have to do with ending. If you still enjoy it, it shouldn't matter if you're 50.
But I can see your point with the economy and living on your own.
Personally, I'll probably stop once Mattel takes over regardless of how great they may or may not be because I don't want to start ALL over again.
I may buy some TNA figures but not be a completionist like I am with my WWE figures.
Hopefully if Jakks continues their Classic line then I will definitely continue to collect those.

Because of everyone says it's "toy"? well, i guess some people dont understand why i collect them, and i dunno, but i'd like to continue, but i dont want to have two separate collections, like that guy just before said i dont want to start all over again so that is the main reason as well as disposable income

If all stays as is then I will stick with Jakks when they start making TNA figures since I'm a Foley mark. However, if Jakks nor Mattel make something close to RA then Foley will be the only thing I will be buying. I'm practically 23 and in my fifth year of University, so age has nothing to do with it. Yeah, I've spent enough money to pay for at least two years of post-secondary and am currently running out of space for my collection but it's mine and I'll stop only when I find that no new products will help improve on what I already have.

1. im 22, and im not too old for this. 2. you dont know how mattel's figs will look, or what the scale will be. 3. i understand having to save money. but, you can cut back without quitting.
but, if its what you want... then good luck with it.

Me too. I scaled back the collecting as it is, but with the housing market as crappy as it is, I hope to move to Cali and buy a house around then.

What a surreal thread. No one knows what the Mattel figures look like yet and if you are 18 now and telling yourself you will be too old to play with wrestling figures in two years then you are seriously messed up in the head. What a weirdo!

I'm 25 and over the last year my WWE figure collecting passion has increased 10-fold After Jakks is done making WWE figures I'm slowing down for sure. I will be getting Jakks TNA figures in small doses and hopefully if Jakks can continue some kind of Classic line I will get those as well

Age doesn't matter, don't let that be an issue. And who knows, maybe you'll like WWE Mattel.

I completely understand the economic crunch. As for myself, I'm about to graduate college, and it really does get quite expensive.
However, don't think that being 20 is too old to do something you enjoy. I've found that the older collectors (of anything) get, the more passionate they seem to be about their hobby. Life is short. If something as simple as making figures makes you happy, then hell, might as well go for it.
