Hey guys, intesting bit of news for the boards
The longest recorded pro wrestling match in history ended a few hours ago as "Dangerous J" Jaysin Strife defeated "RockStar" Mike Cordova 14 falls to 13 in a SEVEN HOUR IRONMAN MATCH in Murrieta,CA for the EPIC WAR promotion.
Before this the longest was a 5 1/2 hour bout between Ed "Strangler" Lewis & Joe Stetcheron July 4th,1916. Back then,it wasnt unusual for 2 guys to go that long
This is HUGE for the area as Strife is essentially a hometown guy from Council Bluffs,IA (30 mins from me),he's been active about 7 years now AND is the current IWA Mid South Lightheavyweight Champion and former NWA Midwest X-Division Champion. Cordova on the other hand is a SoCal indy standout who was sidelined for a few years due to an auto accident that should have killed him
No matter what the outcome was going to be or peoples feelings on the events leading up to the match (with Strife's original opponent backing out the match and quitting the business),these 2 men and the promotion are certainly on the map now
Thoughts? Pete

How could Ed Strngler Lewis be recorded in 1916? No video equipment, much less a tv.

What? Inoki and Saito wrestled for like 2 days. Was that legit? Or just a PWI story?

I'm not even sure how they physically could wrestle for that long. CM Punk and Chris Hero were to the brink of physical exhaustion at the end of the 93 minutes. They had to have taken several breaks during the match, for water at the very least.

The Inoki/Saito match was a "Island Deathmatch". It even wasn't really a wrestling match from what i've heard. Both men were on an island with tents set up for rest, and at a set time each night (dawn) and wrestle in a ring into the nighttime. New Japan tried to sell it off as the longest match ever.
As for the Strangler match, at that time wrestling was reported in newspapers by reporters, so i'm sure thats how it goes into record, because it was considred (and could have easily been) legit. the first recorded match was in 1920.
i'm so cool with my worthless knowledge :/

I've never watched it, but I've heard from others that it was pretty cool.

I can't understand how you could have match that lasts 7 hours. Surely by about the second hour you'd just be repeating what you had already done? And was there a crowd for this?
