Ryan Babel came off the bench to hand Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez his first-ever Premier League victory over Manchester United. The Dutch winger fired home in front of the Kop 13 minutes from time after Ryan Giggs and Nemanja Vidic's defensive dallying allowed Javier Mascherano and Dirk Kuyt to cut the ball back from the byline. United had made the perfect start as Dimitar Berbatov made an immediate impact on his debut, holding off Jamie Carragher and finding Carlos Tevez with an astute pass to rifle a shot into the back of the net with just three minutes on the clock. But the home side were back on terms before the break thanks to a comical defensive blunder from the Premier League champions. Xabi Alonso's speculative shot struck Patrice Evra, before Edwin van der Sar raced from his goal but only succeeded in pushing the ball against Wes Brown's knee before it rolled into the back of an unguarded net. And Babel's late intervention ensured Benitez finally collected a deserved three points against United after seven defeats and one draw from their previous eight meetings. United were reduced to 10 men in the closing seconds as Vidic, who had already been booked for bringing down Robbie Keane, jumped into Alonso. OMG, I'm like beyond a high. Today I doubted we could beat them but good god we played them off the park for the majority of the game. I doubt you Man U fans will admit it but we deserved 3 points today. We are top of the league, we are top of the league (and I can see City getting something from Chelsea meaning we could stay top of the league) It's to early to say it but hey I think we have a chance of the title And with no Torres and an uninfluencal performance from Gerrard for 20 minutes

Congrats on the result. Completely shocked me and especially with Gerrard just coming back from injury.

LMFAO, it's one game, 3 points.
We just seemed lazy today. Great team goal from Tevez, assist from Berba.

I used to say that last season when we were losing, but defeats in games like this against the top 4 cost us, big time. It's only 1/6 games but so far we havent lost against them, carry on that record and we'll be there or there abouts at the end of the season

It's funny how all the Liverpool fans crawl out of the woodwork on here ala CL final 2005. And changing your name to the result ffs. Pathetic.
I'll admit Liverpool deserved it. We haven't got going at all this season. I here Liverpool fans saying every year 'this is our season', fortunately it's not going to happen.

It's obviously not gonna be my name forever like Mike Scholes/berbatov/Tevez changes his whenever someoen plays well When you say Liverpool fans crawl out of the woodwork here I hope that isnt aimed at me And as for this is our season no, at the beginning of this season I didnt even think we were in with a chance. Are singings on paper looked poor etc, but last season I admit I thought it could have been our year but still wins like this only increase my thoughts that we may have a sniff at the league.

I could deal with that. We've just won the European Cup and the League.

LOL at Liverpool fans creaming their pants. After 10 minutes, Man Utd put the foot off the gas.
Man Utd have double the points tally they had at the same stage last season, so I am not too worried.
Pool deserved to win though

I don't think Fergie would want Man U being lazy, and throwing away 3 points after a very early first goal but if you choose to believe it feel free.
We were lucky to get the equilizer and if play stayed the way it wqas for the majority of the first half, I think we would of been happy/lucky with the draw but second half we played fantastic. Riera had a bloody great game, I was a bit like "wtf?" when he got took off but at least Babel gave us the win. But, it's only 4 games. We'll see how we do for the next 34

Liverpool have no chance of winning the leauge. We lost, but we'll bounce back, we always do. It's obviously not gonna be my name forever like Mike Scholes/berbatov/Tevez changes his whenever someoen plays well I was Scholes for ages, I was Bebatov for a week when he signed and I'd changed it to Tevez before Berba stepped on the pitch. I chose Tevez for the new one because he is one of my favorite Man U players.
