The highly anticipated debut of the fed AWF has finally arrived. Now while it isn't the actual fed, it is a brand from AWF. This brand is known has GeNext, which comes from the mind of Deskjet. This is no comparison like a show of Raw to Heat. GeNext's quality is excellent.
In a world of Pic Feds where sort of guidelines have been set down to have a 4 match minimum for shows, GeNext does not follow. Do not let this fool you because these two matches probably out do the 4 of other shows. If this is a preview to what AWF has to offer, then this will be a huge addition to the Pic Fed world! AWF to reign supreme in 2008?
I happened to catch up with Deskjet for a Q&A....
Extreme: What is your opinion of the state of the board?
Deskjet: I think the board is really looking up. It's very exciting, just like old times! Alot of members have really pulled together and shown they want the board to be successful again. And I commend everyone for doing their part.
Extreme: What does GeNext bring to the table that others fail to do?
Deskjet: I like to think originality, at least in terms of characters and story lines. I want people to watch Genext and come away thinking...huh...that was different. I may not have the most polished pics or website, but I hope Genext distinguishes itself as something different from any other pic feds or anything on tv for that matter.
Extreme: Do you think that having only two matches hurts or helps the show? Since it is kind of known to pic fedding as 4 is the usual.
Deskjet: I was among the many who felt "trapped" by a set amount of matches to qualify a show. But let me say, as many pic fedders know or will find out, it's a lot of time! That's one of the reasons I scaled back and encourage others to do so as well. Really I've enjoyed it more this way and it makes it feel like an actual fed especially when you can get a new show out every week or every other week.
I saw few, if any people in the past able to get a 4-6 match show out weekly or bi-weekly without being burnt out after the first 2 months. I was done filming end of June, worked on the first shows commentary for a day or two then have been sitting back getting things together for the next two shows this past few weeks. It's just been so much less stressful.
Oh, so to answer the question. I think a two match show that's filtered throughout with backstage segments, interviews, commercials, etc, will really help the viewer feel they got a complete show. Besides, it's always nice when you're feeling especially motivated to throw a third match in there from time to time.
Extreme: We have seen great feds from you, but what makes you believe that this one you will be able to stick with?
Deskjet: I think the format I've embraced...2-3 match shows, plus working with wwefan617. I really feed off of his passion. So this time around I don't feel like it's a job and I don't feel like I'm doing it all by myself. My other feds were just that, a job, and I worked by myself. I think also, I've quit limiting myself. NWR was based more on what happened on tv so i kinda had to stay in line with those storylines. With Genext I can use whoever and not be restrained by boundries...it's really cool. So as long as I have an active imagination, I think I'll be good.
Extreme: Do you believe that this is/could be your best pic fed?
Deskjet: RXW was a create-a-fed that I enjoyed because everything was made up. NWR I liked because i used a mix of guys and did the cross promotional thing with WWE/TNA. Genext is a whole new ball game. Like I said, the previous limitations aren't there anymore so, yeah, the sky's the limit I guess! We'll just have to wait and see if the the fans think this will be my best pic fed
Extreme: For those who do not look at all these hype threads between you and wwefan (just joking of course), what is your relationship to his fed?
Deskjet: AWF is the company. American League, Rebellion, and GENEXT are all brand extensions. I, of course, run Genext. And he and I just kinda pm ideas back and forth and help each other out whenever we can.
Extreme: What is this Sports Celebrated Magazine? Is this some kind of competition on the boards between magazines now! First it is between feds and feds, but now this? Explain...lol
Deskjet: LOL. SC is really an AWF exclusive magazine, although I know other people use it. It was mostly something wwefan617 did then I just kinda integrated the GENEXT issues in there. There's really no competition just something to advance storylines or get out information on our respective brands.
Extreme: To try and help get across how hard pic fedding to those who do not have one, what is the hardest part?
Deskjet: Laying on the floor, upside down, while holding a camera in one hand, and dangling a figure from a string with the other one. Just to get the money shot! LOL, but seriously though, I've done that
I'd say uploading pictures is the hardest part. It's an upload of 200-400 pics to your computer, then upload those pics to your site, then edit them, crop them, position them, etc. And this is just the uploading part folks! So yeah, it's alot of work and unfortunately we don't get alot of credit for what we do. Not so much from the pic fed community but from other members of the board. Aside from animation, I'd say we put in the most hours as it pertains to our contributions to the forums. That's not a knock towards anyone, that's just a personal, although biased opinion.
Extreme: Well since you had a fed already.... what feds/members inspired you to make a return?
Deskjet: I'd say wwefan617. I'm not trying to make this into a smooch fest but the guy's a soldier. He wanted to pic fed and he wasnt gonna stop even if he was the only one on the board. I saw that and thought, well, if i can get back into this thing more on a part time basis, I might give it another whirl. Mind you, I tried this before with another member and it tanked so I was a little skeptical. But I pmed him some ideas, he was cool with it, and the rest is history.
Extreme: Besides your fed and wwefan, what feds should other members look out for?
Deskjet: Wow, well..WFCW, ROX, FIW, NWA($G) MWFA, BWF, FTW, CWE, EWA, VEW, EPW..sorry guys if I missed anyone but you know who you are ...Ooh...and PHW .
So yeah, there's alot of potentially good to great feds out there but i think between now and Christmas the cream will rise to the top...let's hope there's alot of cream!
Extreme: Thank you for your time!
Deskjet: I just wanted to say thanks to Extreme for doing this and a big standing ovation to all the pic fedders out there who are making the pic fed board fun again! Keep up the good work everyone!
