I was riding in the car with my gf and her friend on our way home from work the other day. I put my Johnny Cash cd in the radio and proceeded to listen to Cry,Cry,Cry... her friend says aloud from the backseat "This sucks!". I turned around and said "You know what b*tch, you suck!" My gf got mad at me and I explained to her how you just don't ever say that. You may not like his music but you damn well better respect the man. Johnny Cash is one of a small amount of people that I have a great respect for not only musically but in life. He is a legend.
Who do you defend with an iron fist and why?

How was she disrespecting the man by saying the music sucks? I think you over reacted.

When I was younger, I don't think you could get me to listen to him. But man o' man. Johnny Cash is truely one of my heros. His voice is so unique and I honestly believe he is one of the best singers out there. I would 100% defend him against anything!

You know, I've been trying to get into a lot of music recently, and I just can't get into Cash... its just not my thing. I like his singing voice, but the songs just aren't very good to me, and a lot of them just sound the same. My favorite Johnny Cash songs are actually covers... I don't like his own material. His cover of "Desperado" is probably my favorite.

Guns N' Roses If you have a legit reason not to like them then fine...like some people just dislike Axl in general....but if you say it sucks just because of ONE song you've heard I'm going to reatliate...chances are no matter what you'll like at least one song by them

I can't really get into Cash's music, but I do respect the man for what he did.
As for someone I will defend, I guess it would be Zach Braff.

I have heard several GNR songs and I have hated them all equally, except for Welcome to the Jungle. I hate that one the most.

Hate to say it but Johnny Cash has become way overrated.
It started when he died and the movie just made it worse.
Hank Williams did more for country and music in general than Cash ever did.

That's a load of bull if you ask me. And I'm as big a Hank fan as anyone. Was he a better songwriter? Maybe. But Cash was a better guitarist and one of the biggest influences in music history, how he was able to blend country and rock music into one.

Cash is not overrated. To be honest he is very underrated. He was a great musician and deserves a lot more.

I wasn't talking about whoever happened to be in the car with you at the time, genius. If you keep calling her a bitch over pointless shit, she's bound to dump and one of your friends out of spite.

I think Roy Clark (the other guy from Hee Haw) is an amazing musician. I swear- if it has strings, he can play it. Incredible talent.

I remember the day that Johnny Cash had died, I told a few people at school and their responses were the same: "No, you mean John Ritter." When I'd say that they both had died, they replied with "Oh. I don't know him then."
It was a very perturbing day for me.
