Kanye West surprised fans on Saturday by performing in Paris only a week after his mother’s mysterious death. Kanye had been reclusive and not only skipped the 12th Annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show but also his mother’s memorial service. But Kanye’s emotions got the best of him towards the end of his performance when he attempted to dedicate the song “Hey Mama” to his late mother, according to People: "He just cracked," one attendee tells PEOPLE, "He was at the end of his concert and had just started to dedicate the song and then he just lost it completely." "He said the word, 'Mother' and just couldn't go any further," Le Parisien journalist Meddy Magloire said. "A back-up singer, the DJ and a guitar player came over to console him. It looked like he might collapse. He just couldn't continue. He just stood there in a spotlight, crying while the band continued playing." The audience showed Kanye some love and applauded while shouting words of encouragement: The band restarted the song, but West left the stage, returning after 10-15 minutes to conclude the concert with a rousing performance of "Stronger." "He was very nervous, seemed to have gathered himself up, and had a lot of energy," Magloire says. "He kept shouting out to the audience, 'I need you... I need you right now.' and the public was screaming back. It was magic." You can see the video here- thesuperficial.com

With all due respect, this story should not be getting the publicity is getting. You know how many other celebrities lost their mothers this year?
In fact, why not care about the millions of people around the world who aren't famous and lost their loved ones in 2007. And they don't even have Kanye West's money, so they have nothing.
I'm sorry for his loss, but I would much rather turn on a TV and see real news.

Mostly this is for the fans of Kanye and should be seen as such. If you had the news report every single day how many people died, that would probably take up the entire newscast over and over.

I'm no fan of Kanye but his Mother was a professor of a well known college, released a book and pretty much could be seen with her son 50% of the time. Which is not the case with most other people. They were close and she was somewhat of a celeb herself.

I posted something similar to what you just said in the thread where it was first mentioned of his mothers passing, and I got flamed for it. Ridiculous.

Maybe this cocky bastard will remember moments like this when he cries about people not liking him enough or giving him enough recognition. In all reality, I feel sorry for the guy, he obviously has many deep seeded emotional problems.

That's pretty sad. I can't help but feel sorry for him. Even if I wasn't a fan of his, it's still pretty horrible for anyone to go through the pain of loosing someone they are so close to.

Obviously people will feel sorry for him, I mean, his mom was his inspiration to everything. She was always there by his side. I'm pretty sure not very many people can relate to his and his moms relationship. None of ya'll go and make a song about her because of how close you are with her.

I love how you guys are ripping into him as if the title says "Charles Manson breaks down in prison"
I mean yeah the guy is a little over the edge sometimes, but he lost his mother. And just because he has money gives the right for you all to rag on him. If this was some random guy who's mom died you'd either feel sorry or dont care, but since he is a celebrity, he must be horirble and everyone should bash him in one of the hardest times in his life.
Pricks.

Alec Baldwin, Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, Chris Tucker...anybody I like could've lost their mother and I'd feel the same way. If the news is showing a celebrity's mother's death for over a week instead of real news, I am upset. I don't care about Kanye crying onstage. I care about the constant stories about the death.

Pricks. No kidding. It's his fault that he's in the news. Did he tell online article resources such as PEOPLE or TIME, whom cover this kind of stuff, to publish this? They die for this kind of stuff. Bunch of ing no-good selfish douche-bags in here. Ok, so he raps and he's famous. His mom died. Let's bash him and say his music sucks now. All you guys are ed up.

Look, I don't like him at ALL either, he annoys the piss shits out of me, I hate his music with a passion.... but damn man. I'm EXTREMELY close with my mother, and I already have lost my father... if my mother passed away I'd be ing devastated. If West was as close to his mother as I am, which she and I are best friends... I could see why millions of people who are his fans would give a rats ass. The actual news aspect of the death isn't just, "and today Kanye went to a supermarket today after trying to still deal with the loss of his mom." - What the news IS focusing on is that she died while having plastic surgery, and YES a lot of people have the operation and are fine, but it is dangerous and it doesn't get addressed enough. Christ, plastic surgery in America is at an all time high. THAT is why the news is giving this so much attention, and the fact Kanye is a celeb and this generates ratings - I'm sure helps too.
