Can anyone tell me the name of a song in Donnie Darko. This song is in the Director's Cut, and it plays when Donnie and his girlfriend are comming down the stairs to the party. I know that in the original the song is "Under the Milky Way" but I believe it is different in the Directors Cut.

The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen The Killing Moon was the opening song in the Original cut. I do believe its just a re-cut of "Under The Milky Way", as the only 2 songs in the Director's Cut are "Stay"Performed by Oingo Boingo and "Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS

They said that The Killing Moon replaces Under the Milky Way. You can use the whole "wikipedia is edited by everyone" excuse, but whoever wants to go through the time of looking the comparisons between two dvds and looking up the song title and artist just to put a sentance on the website is beyond me.

Considering I have both the Original DVD and Director's Cut right here in front of me.....I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I think you both fail when a Donnie Darko song post doesn't involve that bloody *now annoying* song Mad World. Everyone at one was obsessed with that damn song. Ugh.

I'm sure it's somewhere on these forums. That was like 3 years ago, so it might be kinda hard to find.

Damn, I used to have that "essay" saved on my computer, but I'm pretty sure that was a while back before it had to be whiped out.

I think Kliquid had it at one point too, but I think the last time I talked to him he said he had gotten a new computer since. I'm going to search the forums, see if I can find it.

Oh, I could, I'm just lazy. It was like 5 pages and I wrote it by watching the movie scene by scene and taking notes and evalutating each thing that happened on screen. If I do decide to do it again, I'd probably rewrite it like I did, evaluting the film itself, but I'd also add on comparisons to the Director's Cut.
The thing is nowdays I typically write about 20 pages a day between screenplays, reviews, and stuff on here, so usually when I would normally do something like that I don't feel like writing anything other than the stuff I really wanted to write that day.

I have some strong hatred for the Director's Cut so I'd LOVE to read your take on it.

That's what is funny, I love the Director's Cut. I think the pacing got thrown off a bit, but otherwise it was the same basic movie with a few minor changes.
I'll probably get to it after I move to Alabama in about a month, I'll have nothing better to do until I get my driver's license back in January.
