ok, i thought this would be a good idea for a thread. heres how it works. every week, i will be posting up the movies that are coming to theatres, and i will give you a brief description of what the movie is about. After you have read it, we can then discuss the movie, and talk about its up's and downs and give a review. So, to get it started, heres how it works. Week Of Monday November 19-Sunday November 25 This Weeks Big Release: In this adaptation of the Stephen King novella, shoppers are trapped in a supermarket after it is enveloped in a strange mist filled with monstrous creatures. David Drayton (Thomas Jane) is just an unassuming artist, but when the terror hits, he rallies the other customers to defend themselves against the horrible beasts. Will these small-town folks be able to survive the assault and find out where that creepy mist came from anyway? Is it from the nearby military base? This movie looks kind of interesting. it doesnt really do much for me to be honest though. but sense im hearing such good things about it i will prob. go and see. Screenshots From The Film: Hitman Based on the hit video-game series, a man known only as Agent 47 (Timothy Olyphant) has been trained to become the ultimate assassin. However, his reign as the world's most efficient killer may be at an end when he's set up for a fall by unknown forces. Evading both Interpol and Russian military officers, the ruthless hit man must find out who is behind the conspiracy before he's killed himself. Screenshots From The Movie:

I guess mainstream-wise, this is the widest release, but if you want to do movies people around here care about, do No Country For Old Men and Southland Tales, which from what I can tell around here, no one has heard of.

Although, to contribute to the topic, I actually wanted to see this movie, before I heard 3 months of terrible reviews for it. I like Vince Vaughn, and I think everyone likes Paul Giamatti, you can't help it, but I've heard this movie is just so formulaic and boring people are being warned against it.
As a fan of Christmas movies in general, good or bad, I'll watch it at some point, but I'm in no rush. Especially after the TV spot I saw where Vince Vaughn is dancing with elves. What is that all about?

I don't know if it's what you were saying, but Southland Tales is out until next week. I personally don't care for Fred Clause. I don't care for Christmas until like mid-December. I'll probably be going to Lions for Lambs this weekend.

Is anyone else over Vince Vaughn? I like him, but he had his run. So tired of type-cast characters. Are they needed? More neurotic, "off-the-wall," scummy, tired-looking assholes?

I could be wrong, but my local theater lists it as starting on Friday, along with No Country for Old Men, which I just found out is only a limited release. So I could be wrong. EDIT: On the Southland Tales website, www.southlandtales.com they list it as November 9th.

*shrugs*
I suppose it could've been pushed back to Wednesday, even though a mid-November Wednesday release makes no sense, and then forgot to update the website. Either way, I'll be seeing this. If it comes out Wednesday, even better, I don't have to see two movies on Friday, only one.

Wow, usually Redford movies get a lot of praise. Don't trust Rotten Tomatoes, I never do. Watch it, it's very good. It looked like boring, stilted crap, and EVERY review on there confirmed that it was. So when a movie looks like something I won't like, and then the reviews confirm that it's not what I wanted to see, I have no reason to see it. Not to mention every Redford directed movie I've seen was sentimental bullshit. Today, I learned some depressing news, the local theater that was supposed to get No Country For Old Men falsely advertised that they were getting it during limited release, according to the manager, he didn't know it was limited, and he didn't pay attention to the invoice. ing douche. Same goes for Southland Tales, which is only in NY/LA, even more limited than No Country. So I gotta go to SF to see No Country now. I'm pissed.

Sorry that movies with a message about America currently, that doensn't just talk down parts of it, but more like looks at it and shows that young people(myself included) don't realize what we can do and what is actually going on. Honestly, you're the type of person who will see the movie someday and probably not take anything away from it because you have a pre-existing opinion on it. I'm not saying it's a true classic, but it's good. You HAVE to pay attention. Everything that goes on in the cuts from piece to peice have to do with each other. It's honestly one of Leatherface's better movies. It has more to do with people needing to recognize how things work and how how f'd up America is right now than boring politics. Basing an opinion on critics shitty opinion is stupid. Anyone who watches movies should know that.

Yes, I watch movies all the time, I've seen thousands, and I'm very aware of Lions for Lambs, I read sections of the script before I couldn't stand it anymore.
I love movies, I'm a filmmaker myself, but I can't stand stilted, over-political crap. Yes, I can have pre-existing notions, especially when I'm familiar with the filmmaker, his body of work, his personal politics, and what this movie is about.
This is why we have seperate opinions, you're free to like hackneyed films all you want, me, I know what I'm going into, and I avoid it.
