I don't know how well this suggestion might be received, but do the mods here think it could be possible to stop these pointless "My Latest Pickups" threads we keep getting clogging the board constantly. What does everyone else think?
It'd be nice for a change if we could get some decent discussions happening on this site, with some cool threads hanging around on the main page for a few days at least.
As it is, every day the main page is always new topics largely made up of these stupid threads where someone says "I went to KB today and my mom bought me an RA28 Miz. Here are some pictures I took. And here's a picture of him with my Boogeyman figure". Then half a dozen replies of "Cool pick up man. Enjoy".
Sorry, but why does anyone care if you bought a mass released figure, which is available everywhere and everyone else can find. It's not interesting in the slightest.
Now before a bunch of you respond with "just don't read the threads", believe me... I don't. But I'd just like to see the board not being wasted on pointless junk like this bumping other threads out of the way. I don't mind people posting new finds, or stuff that hasn't been seen before... but it's getting ridiculous when you have people posting stuff that's been around for ages.
At the very least can we just have a sub board for people who feel the need to post their unremarkable finds?

Don't know whats wrong with people posting things they buy, why would that bother you so much? Its a wrestling figure board so get used to it.

I agree with the both of you. I think you should be able to post your new figures no matter who they are, but on the same hand, when you post your buys, you're really not discussing them much. A sub-board would be really cool, but either way, it suites me personally.

You know mate, I hope Jack does......
not change the rules. I like looking at the figs because sometimes there's detailed pics and in pic request threads, you barely get a result. And Jack, can we make a rule, No saying "Cool, nice pickup", actually like also get into discussion of the fig.
Edit: That's if he actually looks at the thread.

Well... just to give you an indication, right now we have these really exciting threads taking up space on the first two pages of WFT. - Pick-Up: Miz w/ minor fix - New Pickups (RA 28, TT 6, CS 15, TNA 8, etc) - Hulkin' Pick-up! - More Classic receivings - Trade Pickups! **Thanks to The Showstopper** - SmackDown! Pickup - New trades *PICS* - The hiding worked New Pickup - Pickups **WARNING: 60+ HQ PICS** - New pickup from PG-69: RKO - one half of my new pick ups - the PERFECT pick ups! - My most recent EXTREMEly good pick-ups What do any of these threads have to offer in the way of intelligent conversation? Do you want a pat on the back for buying a figure anyone can find in the shop? I don't mind people discussing new figures they've got if they have something interesting to say. And Van Dam, exactly... this is a wrestling figure board. We ALL go out and buy wrestling figures. There is no need for some people to make a new thread every time they buy something new. Too often interesting discussion or important news is bumped off the front page because of these pointless 'Pick Up' threads.

I agree wholeheartedly. I always get tricked into clicking a thread that says "NEW AMAZING PICKUPZ!!!111" thinking someone found something NEW or AMAZING only to find they bought a DA Helms. Then everyone pads their post count by saying "Enjoy your pickup" Boring

I understnad how it can bee anoint to see the same pick up threads over and over but there is a good point to them as well. I like these cuase they let me know when sertain figs are either being shiped or are becoming availble in stores. So they tip me off on when to go shoping.

Well i actually enjoy looking at what other people are getting. although I'm in Ireland, so it gives me a heads up as to what the final product will be like.
When i make a thread about my new pickups, i jam it with tonnes of pictures covering every aspect of the figure, as it may help people out.
Although i agree, a ban on writing things along the lines of "cool pickups" and that kind of thing would be good. we are all figure collectors, so we should know how to discuss them. when i posted mine, i wrote a short bit on each figure, in the hope that someone would catch on and agree with me or disagree with me and, of course, say why.

Too often interesting discussion or important news is bumped off the front page because of these pointless 'Pick Up' threads. Well posting pictures of pick-ups allows discussion of the figure and also if there are any errors or changes. It also ends up providing a vast array of pictures for those interested in buying a certain figure. Also it gives a good estimation as to arrival times of the figure/s in other members' countries. Also the threads are interesting to some to look at what others have bought and whats going around. They are not always about newer figures too, so seeing new pick-ups of older figs sometimes provokes discussion of the figure and is sometimes a reminder or first look at the figure for some people. Face it, the "just bought thread" is 'more uselss' (if new pick-up threads are at all). At least new pick-up threads provide pictures sometimes descriptions, reviews etc. The just bought thread is simply writing what you got and thats it. The new pick-up threads create an actual point of discussion. Either way, the threads have always been there and although they may seem pointless to some, they are in various ways a psotive thing to have.

Then everyone pads their post count by saying "Enjoy your pickup" Boring Yes, exactly right! Please people, don't confuse what I'm saying in regards to people posting new pictures of new products. That's exactly what I do want to see! We all do. I always love it when the first guy to get a new batch of figures shipped from RSC posts his hi res loose pictures! However 3 months later, I don't need to see out of focus camera phone photos of the same figure when some kid buys it from Wal Mart, and reading "Cool pick up!" a dozen times. I think this is kinda like having the custom board being flooded with fix ups, at the expense of real customs. That's why we have a sub board for fix upst. WFT should be for real news, and not hearing about unremarkable purchases.

I like seeing photos of people's new figures. There's not much else to talk about on this part of the board.

Puns are a display of creativity better than the usual New Pick-Ups title. Corny or not, at least someone actually bothered to be different.

What do any of these threads have to offer in the way of intelligent conversation? Do you want a pat on the back for buying a figure anyone can find in the shop? I don't mind people discussing new figures they've got if they have something interesting to say. Something tells me if you are looking for intelligent conversation on a figure board you might not be bringing anything to the table in the first place. I always love it when the first guy to get a new batch of figures shipped from RSC posts his hi res loose pictures! However 3 months later, I don't need to see out of focus camera phone photos of the same figure when some kid buys it from Wal Mart, and reading "Cool pick up!" a dozen times. I think you assume everyone checks here every day. They don't, I dont check this all the time. I appreciate the person posting pictures of his new stuff cause maybe I didn't know about it and want to get it as well. I hate the asses that assume cause something is a week old that everyone has seen them and says "old news".

As long as they are posting pictures of what they got, it's fine.
