If anything, college life in movies is all stereotypes...frat guys are testosterone-fueled idiots, cheerleaders are brain-dead morons, constant parties by drunken hordes, etc.

IRL, college is what you make of it...and trust me, those that don't take it seriously, don't last long. In the "real world", there's only so much money that can come out of Daddy's pocketbook before he gets pissed that his little Princess isn't doing jack crapand doesn't give a damn about college. Maybe it's because I go to a huge public university that is more racially and ethnically mixed than most cities, but I've never come across any sort of Indian caste system in regard to knowing your role and being unable to get out of it.
