On the last day of school last year we got this newsletter telling us when we start school. It says: January 31st: Year 7,11 and 12 begin. Febuary 1st: Year 8, 9 and 10 begin. So with me being in year 10 im thinking oh sweet get the whole of January off. So today my principal rings up and asks why I wasn't at school. Right now im thinking what the is she on about, we don't start till tomorrow. So I asked her why she rang and apparently they made a mistake on the damn newsletter. I was away on the holidays so I didn't get the phone call to inform me of the mistake that the school made. So now I get some stupid strike to my name for not attending the first day. They say you have to attend the first day, its compulsary. If you get three strikes you get a Saturday detention!!! They also said that they rang my house several times. I wasn't there till around 2 weeks ago, that means I didn't get the phonecalls. So the school says that im just using that as an excuse. I was thinking of getting my dad to come into the school and tell 'em, but he doesn't speak English well. So have any of you guys got an idea on how to solve this dumb problem

I think that should be reported to the board, as a war crime. Because that's some sort of Rambo torture, if you ask me.

get your dad to go in any way. trust me Parents are at a higher praise at school then any one else. they will definitely agree with him and fix it up.

Well you should get your parents to speak to the school no matter what. You cannot be held responsible, you have a plausible explanation. If so, threaten to take action to the Department of Edcuation.

They cant keep you in school period you can just leave at anytime. well technically they can prevent you from leaving school grounds if you don't have permission to leave but they can't force you to go onto school grounds, and most private schools do have saturday detentions.

Oh My God, you were absent one day, where they accidentally mixed it up. Dude, you make it sound like you are automatically gonna get in so much trouble. It was one day, and you're not in any trouble. Just go to school like you're supposed to now.

He shouldn't be in any trouble, regardless of how insignificant it is, because of their mistake.
