For years i have been having severe acid reflux even when drinking water! I some what learn to live with it but it just kept getting even worser. I spoke to a specialist and he prescribed me with nexuim but he also wanted a Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy test to be done. The nexium worked wonders. I was able to eat and drink things i couldn't before and for the most i was able to sleep with out choking from the acid. When the day came for the test i was terrified cause i haven't been put under general anesthesia since i was 11.
The doctor explain what was going to be done. He was to check the stomach lines and small intestines for anything abnormal and biopsy any finding. I told Him that i was afraid how my sleep apnea will react to the anesthesia and that if my C.P.A.P machine will be used. he said it will be used encase of an emergency and that i was not to worry.
Well i was prep and anesthesia was applied with oxygen. I quickly feel asleep but what seemed like 5 minutes, i woke up during the middle of the procedure unable to breath and pretty much violent. I was pumped more anesthesia and then i woke up in the recovery room.
My mother who accompany me was shocked to see what has happen to my eyes and face. I didn't pay no mine cause i was out of it. she just ask the doc why my face was like that but he said it was ok and sort of changed the conver and then went to the other patients . I ask her how bad is it. she told me that my eyes were ed up and that my eyes were red, i thought red ok i have allergies that gives me red eyes all the time, nothing new there. then she says that my skin around the eyes and top of nose was red. I didn't realize how bad it was till i got hope to see for my self. When I got home i went to the bathroom and was horrified to see that my eyes where popping out and were blood red, like pools of blood mixed in that resembles a pepper mint candy. And my skin had little purple and red dots as if i was punched in the eye twice. Blood vessels where inflamed.
I was irate and wanted to call the doc so he can explain but by that time it was to late of time to call. i search the net to see if people experience this with any procedure and came out with nothing but suffocation. then it hit me i was suffocating during the procedure which result in me waking up in the middle of everything and since i was violent and out of it they just put more anesthesia to put me down. Had they used my sleep apnea machine this could had been avoided. but i want answers from my doc that i hope to receive tomorrow.
i also have a open thyroid biopsy coming soon and I'm scared shitless.
