I'm not in a heavy workout routine or anything. I'm just wondering if it's a good idea or not to do 100 push-ups daily. Or is it a better idea to do them every other day to let your body rest? Or what about 2 out of every 3 days?

People will probably say its proven that you should rest every other day.. but i reckon.. If you can do it every day.. go for it!

You should rest because if you dont it can damage your muscle tissue by overwoking them.

Wrong thread wtf I don't know how the heck I ended up in here. Post deleted.
Oh, well, since I'm in here already, my suggestion is basically to stop when your body tells you to. If you feel fine after doing them every day, then continue. However, if you start cramping up, take a couple days rest.

I stop when I get sore which is usually somewhere between 100-150. But will I still be able to gain muscle if I don't really rest my body for over 24 hours at a time?

It will build as you sleep. That is when muscle building takes place. So just get good sleep, and do it every day.

I would do 100 real push ups one day then the next to 100 adjusted push ups. Adjusted pushups are push ups, but your knees are on the floor, taking off about 30% of the weight.

When you first start out do it one day and then rest the next. As you move foward I still wouldn't do it everyday. You're better doing it 4-5 times a week and giving your body a rest. You will still lose weight(if that is what you're looking to do) and still healthy. It's better off to start slow. Don't kill yourself in the first week or your not gonna give up too easy.

100 push-ups isn't even really that many. I'd say go for five and break on two. Rest is needed, not so you're not in pain, but to rebuild the muscle and to actually get results.

go every day, 100 is hardly anything enough to "straing your muscles" to the point you need to rest them

I love push ups they taste so good If he said Push Pops--which he didn't--then it might've been funny. But since he didn't...

Every other day I do around 400 - 500 in sets of 50 at KickBoxing. I also do 300+ situps in sets of 50. It gets you in great shape, pretty fast to.
