The guy was a nutjob for sure. I don't know why, but for some reason brilliant people tend to be looney. Still the guy was a chess legend and was an American icon during the Cold War. He's the reason why there is money today in playing competitive chess.

he looks broing, i dont see why his would essentially have a movie made after him The movie wasn't about him. It was about a child prodigy named Josh Waitzkin. This was a 8 or 9 yr old kid who was playing masters level chess. |

Fischer was no American hero. After departing the US in the 80's Fischer became very outspoken against the US. At one point, he actually thanked Osama Bin Laden for 9/11. Damn....What an bunghole R.I.P |

As you can tell by my sig, I had recently become interested in his chess career (had him in my sig several days/weeks before his death). RIP Fischer, you were a nutcase, but the greatest chess player of all time.

There are no elements of chance. There are no weather factors that can affect play. It's two people who square off and the person who can out-think and out-strategize the other wins. |

I bet at best there are 2 or three on this site that could actually play chess with any sort real understanding of the game other than what movements the pieces can make and just randomly move until the king was taken. And I think I'm being generous there. |
