Well, 1 Gb RAM is decent for a laptop with vista, but 2 gb are reccomended, the Proccessor is honestly the worst i've seen in a while. 160 gb hard drive is fine. A nice graphics card, and 3 usb ports.
Not bad for recreational use. I enjoy having high-end stuff for everything, but if your using this for business purposes/internet use it should be more than fine.

My friend says he upgraded it to two GBs.
Forgot to mention that.
I'm really just planning on using this for internet/music/por videos/college.

I'd go through Dell directly, go to their website and build a computer so you can learn about what each thing does and what you want, and if you dont want Dell, at least now you know what to look for. Going to a Best Buy store and playing around with the computer also helps, Id wait til after X-Mas though, crapbe crazy

How much are you buying it for?

It depends. Vista is definitely not as good as XP. If you're buying that laptop just to go on the internet that that would be fine.

A box of eye contacts? You are selling your contacts for the computer?
I have Vista and I love it.

A box of eye contacts? You are selling your contacts for the computer? I have Vista and I love it. I just got a new prescription, so half my old contacts are outdated. Besides, I have enough.

if you're only planning to use it just for the stuff mentioned, get a dell laptop with ubuntu linux, no viruses, VERY customisable (how it looks etc), more efficient than windows, lots of free programmes (free as in they don't cot anything, you can also freely re-distribute them, modify them, copy them etc) and it has awesome 3d effects - . installing programmes is a breeze - most can bedone in a few clicks, without having to use the internet. www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/ubuntu?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&dgc=EM&cid=21690&lid=511380.

Personally, I'd go on ebay. I bought a laptop on there recently for $250 shipped. It's got XP Pro with a 1 GB of ram and a 2.4 ghz processor. You can get some real killer deals on used laptops. I swear the things go down in value faster than new cars.
