Kind of had this thread settled in the back of my head. My post may come off as scattered thought but a lot to note.
• In February my good friend came in from the Bronx in one of his consistantly off tune, without warning, annual visits.
Was good to bs with him about old times as well as new ones.
• April and May became two of my craziest months for wrestling. With an incredible ROH show in April, my first 2CW show exactly 2 weeks later, and only another 2 weeks or so before I seen the WWE live. That's a lot of wrestling in 40 days and 40 nights.
* April was incredible for many reasons, primarily wrestling attached. Fighting Spirit(4/12) showcased the first 1 on 1 meeting of Nigel McGuinness and Takeshi Morishima; do I even need to say how incredible that match was?
That match alone made my first ROH live event the place to be, but it didn't hurt to see Shingo Takagi one more time. Or Mark Briscoe's crazy ass returning to damn near every body's delight.
Add to all that, a final Edison, New Jersey appearance of one Colt Cabana. The show was fun for not just me but the whole family.
• April didn't end so quickly with the wrestling frenzy though. As I hit my first and only to this date, 2CW show.
I was going soley on the purpose of seeing Joe one last time. Seeing him for (at that time) the first time in my own backyard of Syracuse. DRIVING DISTANCE!
That show blew me away, really it did. I seen Joe, hell I got in the ring with the man!.... As in a few words and a picture, but it's all good, that picture is on my fridge like a little kid displaying a painting.
But beyond seeing Joe up close and personal, which all but the actual polaroid, wasn't new with me.
I got a lot more on the delivery, for instance... BILL MUTHA
IN' ALFONZO!
Quite honestly one of my, if not my favorite character in wrestling. I just love the guy, and it was almost a mark fest when I spotted him and his trusty whistle come down to the 2CW ring where another surprise they brought in (Earl Hebner) awaited.
It was crazy and I'm happy to say I met one of my heros, struck up a conversation and got his autograph!
The wrestling wasn't limited either, everyone busted their asses and the night was capped off by in my eyes, the best ladder match.... EVER!
April, over and out, WOOOO!
• Looking at this, I hope someone takes the time to read this. It's me pooring my heart out for god's sake. I can't help it I have a habit of being over-exuberant.
But yeah, May rolls in and to be completely honest, it was all about treating my nephew to his first WWE live event.
At the time he was 5 and by treating, I mean, swaying my way in and kind of half-assing the excitement. It's a WWE live event, non-televised, imagine my excitement.
Well the show went slightly long than CDs I normally burn, but it hardly went 2 hours. It's sad the offering they give fans now a days but it's all in the time we live in.
The greatness really was in seeing many old favorites (Edge, RVD, Chavo), as well as many first timers I never seen live (Finlay, Punk, Burke, MVP, to name a few)
The show was decent for talent alone, but what stands out as a memorable moment. Chris Benoit, I'm sorry but the fact is, I seen him wrestle on 5/13/07 and as a fan of the professional wrestler it's surreal to know I seen him near the end of his run and he was in as good of shape as Eddie appeared to be.
For my nephew to see one of his (at the time) heros, competing along-side another one of his heros, Batista and winning. That was a great way to send me and my nephew home happy.
• Moving forward two other significant wrestling-themed moments would probably be July 28th when my nephew went to his first ROH show with me, and the only one so far he has been to.
The Race to the Top tournament was entering night 2, and before we even got into the building my nephew seen the briscoes entering to a resounding applause as well as Tank Tolland and his girlfriend looking like larger than life celebrities humble enough to not care if they were mobbed or bothered.
I could exceed the hype but here's the card, you tell me if the show was good or not.

Team McGuinness: Nigel McGuinness, Roderick Strong, Delirious, and Jay Briscoe
RACE TO THE TOP FINALS: Claudio Castagnoli vs El Generico
The show was exactly what I hoped my nephew would get out of it. He seemed to enjoy it and I picked him up manhattan mayhem(?) to show him a classic joe vs punk match.
Another significant event was October 5th, thanks in part to one of my fellow WFers I got to see my first non-Edison ROH show, LIVE! Boston, Roxbury. I didn't get killed, however I did see an amazing 6 man tag (vulture squad vs no remorse corps)
There was also a very well round aries-dragon match that started their best of 3 series off on the right foot.
I'd say this show was a nice touch in the "how far i'd go to see good wrestling", to bad it cost me my first ppv event the very next night, but c'est la vie.
• And damn this thing doesn't get any easier to type.
My year wasn't all pro wrestling, 24/7/365. Oh no you see the most promising thing to happen won't come till January 9th, but the precursor is all the bs between myself and the syracuse city school district is coming to be an afterthought.
College opportunity awaits, and nothing was more memorable this year than being told I'm all but in the door and right back on track.
Happy Days are here again.
