turing him in would be better than letting him run and causing things to get worse.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but if you really knew him you wouldnt even have to ask. He messed up. Period. Now he needs to pay for his mistakes. Think how you would feel if someone did that to you're house & his best friend covered for him. You'd be pissed wouldnt you?

Couldn't you be charged for conspiracy, because you knew he committed the crime and you knew where he was, but still didn't turn him in?
Or am I totally wrong...

Steal whatever he stole, from him. He wont be in trouble anymore. You're a ing idiot.
The past thing is to honestly turn him in. Running away from the cops is the worst choice for him.

helping him out would be turning him in. Helping him out, by not turning him in, will make the cops think he is running from them, which will make them just want to find him more. Besides, he wasn't helping out those people when he robbed them, so why should you help him out?

if you're not prepared to turn him in, make it clear to him that that is the wise choice.

Right idea but not conspiracy, I believe it's something to do with aiding in criminal action. Something like that, ask Sam Waterston. Conspiracy I believe has to do with prior knowledge to the crime. Not 100% But turn him in. Seriously, he's a criminal. Doesn't matter if you knew him your whole life, he committed a crime. If you want to help him make his life better, turn him in, and when he's out help him get his life where it should be. If he doesn't don't be friends with him. You shouldn't be friends with criminals.

If you don't turn him in, then you're guilty of either obstruction of justice or aiding and abetting. No need for you to go down with him just because he did something stupid.

Let him go through the appropriate legal process and tell him to learn from his mistakes.
