You know those free runners who do these amazing stunts by running and jumping u pretty much only see in movies? javascript:View('http://www.Break.com/index/uk_free_runners.html')
well they break their falls by rolling onto their back to change their momentum n stuff. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=OzRIJHoCQcA - Sports Science explains)
well what i was wondering, is what if someone was in a situation say your in a big burning building and you have no choice but to jump, would this work to save your life? (such a big jump, that if you didnt, you would die on impact). i was just wondering because it seems like something that should be taught in case of emergencys.

I smell an episode of Mythbusters. That'd be great. I can't say that it wouldn't work, as there's no real way that I'd know, but I'm guessing that if you landed even the slightest bit wrong, you'd be as good as dead.

I feel sorry for Buster already. I'm pretty sure they retired Buster and got a new one. But, yeah, I'd feel bad for it nonetheless.

I know firefighters are taught to jump and roll if they hafta jump from a burning house or something. I've seen a news report where some firefighters died but some lived jumping from a burning house. The ones that died didn't roll, so it could be a possibility.

How do you teach someone to fall from a 20 foot ladder?!

I suppose you would survive. You'll need to roll at the EXACT moment you hit the ground.

Simple physics would seem to dictate that you wouldn't survive. At the very least you'd be seriously hurt. Wrestlers survive falls like that because they're trained to land in such a way as to distribute the point of impact across a wide surface (usually their back). There's a point however where even that isn't going to help you (see Hart, Owen).
