It may not be big to some people, because it wasn't as big as like V-Tech. But for us, it was so close (well, one hour away, but alot of my family went there in the 80s - 90s) to Chicago citizens that it just was shocking.

I doubt that it really shocked many citizens of Chicago. Once you've lived there long enough not much really comes off as surprising or shocking.
