People around here do it all the time for the new Madden games, Halo, etc. I think you'd be fine, but a mall might be different. Perhaps try Circuit City, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. Our Best Buy is connected to our mall.

Really, though, I think you'd probably be best off just waiting until they opened... They're not going to run out of a game, so there's really no point in being there early.

I doubt there will be any problem so long as you aren't disruptive.
I waited inside (and outside) Walmart in the Home and Gardening section for 12 hours for my Wii. No joke, it was one of the best days of my life. It was so much fun playing DS with a bunch of people with shared interests, discussing upcoming games and old ones, basically having the store as your kitchen, and then hanging out with the two friends who waited with me. I also ran into a bunch of friends who either came to visit me or were just shopping. Afterwards I had like 10 people come to my house to watch me open it and to play it. I thought it was going to be terribly boring and lame but it was anything but.

Is SSBB really going to be that rare/hard to find in stores? God I hope not.
