Hey all, I'm in a little bit of a problem here and I thought I can use some advice on what to do. So I'm a junior in High School, and play 2 Varsity Sports, Wrestling and Football. So right now it's wrestling season, and last year during wrestling I lettered as a sophmore, but then that coach left. So this year, there is a new coach and he keeps putting a senior in front of me who continually loses. I beat the senior many times in wrestle offs, and the coach knows im better then him, but I always got the hint the coach didnt like me. So about a month ago, I broke my hand wrestling, and had to sit out. The kid took over the 215 spot, and when I returned 2 weeks ago, I was as good as new beating the guy. So we had the wrestleoff, and three matches ago he put the kid ahead of me again, where he lost. No big deal really, but then he did it a second time 2 matches ago, where the kid lost again. Now, I'm not saying im amazing, but im 17-11, whereas the kid is 5-18. So last night we had another match and the guy didnt come, so I knew I was wrestling. My match time comes and my coach forfeits the match and gives the win to the other team. So I'm on the virge of quitting the team and going to lift for football, I have a feeling this coach wont be back next year either. So a little advice would be nice..

Just kick ass in tournaments and do better than him in your divisional. Thats why i like wrestling because as much of a team sport it is its just as much individual. Just dont quit dude wrestling kept me in the best shape to get ready for the football seasons.

thats bullshit. the fact you won the wrestleoff means you should already be wrestling. try having some friends on the team talk to the coach about it. he is a senior and its his last year to shine, thats the only reason i could see the coach doing that.

If the coach isn't going to put you in any matches than there's no point on being a part of the team. Football would be better because at least you get used a lot on first string and sometimes on 2nd.

I think you need to have a one-on-one convo with the coach outside of practice & you need to call him out on this. Dont attack him, just ask him why he is making the choices he is making. If you are lettering as a Soph. I wouldnt recommend quitting because it sounds like you're good, but if you dont see a light at the end of the tunnel, maybe you should think about it

wait till he finally puts you in the match. when the ref starts the match lay down and tell the other guy to pin you, when he does stand up give your coach the bird and ask him if thats good enough for ya and walk out of the gym and prep for football

Id go to the athletic director about the forfit, there was no reason for it what so ever. The new coach seems like a dick. Maybe get the rest of your team to have a team meeting or something to show the coach that his coaching methods are unfair and just utterly stupid.
