OK, since I did the thing and got the 2-Pack, I figured I'd go ahead and crack this open for you
I wasn't messing around I yoinked this off my doorstep and had it unboxed in under 5 minutes.
Excuse the crudiness that is my carpet. I usually photoshop it out of stuff but I can't be bothered today. If it means anything, the carpet looked like dogcrap when I got here, the landlord refused to do anything about it. Not the point, moving on.
Here is the 2 pack in hand. God that Austin shirt is even worse in person. Yick. Also, for some reason the FIGHT on KO's shorts is GOLD. Weird.
Right away, the legs are pinless which is TERRIFYING to me because, to this point, we'd managed to avoid KO figures with pinless knees. Now it looks like they may be transitioning over. As expected they don't move at ALL. Completely frozen. Great if you're just gonna shove him on a shelf though, so I may use these legs down the road for a custom I'm not particularly concerned with making fancy. Maybe that "Face of America" Payback KO I was planning on. Who knows. Anyway, yeah. Knees don't bend. Even a little. Great job Mattel. The hip joints are smooth as butter though so whatever you guys did there, do it with the elites next!
The shirt was a PAIN to cut off. I've never had a KO shirt give me this much trouble since the one I bought secondhand that I swear got doused in superglue. No idea what went wrong there but yeah, had to completely cut the thing OFF rather than simply score and split. Ugh. Guess I won't be using that shirtpiece again!
Anyway, so, as it turns out, the torso is...
BASIC
It's basic like the rest of the figure.
And it gets worse.
You know, god forbid we ever get a Kevin Owens figure with all his tattoos. I mean, we got the Elite 101, we shouldn't be greedy I guess. I know it's a basic but, still. *sigh*.
Now, for the good parts.
I ADORE THIS HEADSCULPT
I need all of you to know that I am aware it's misprinted. But the thing is that when you look at the head from a reasonable distance and not under HD photography, it makes him look like he's just done with EVERYTHING. The combination of angled mouth, one lifted eyebrow, and slightly off center eyes makes him look like he's giving the most epic side-eye which, I know it's just me, but it's such a perfect 'Kevin' expression to me that it makes it worth the crappy figure to have this head. I can't wait to use it on a custom!
Oh, and of course...
Highlight of the pack. Right here. This is gorgeous and I don't know what it's gonna take for me to get a whole bunch more of these, but I NEED them. Awesome accessory and while not quite worth the price of the entire 2-Pack (unless you are REALLY into KO like I am), I'm very happy to have it.
Anyway, this concludes my review of the KO/Austin 2-Pack Kevin Owens. I can do some stuff with the Austin too if anyone is interested, but more than likely I'm just going to steal the knee braces and pads off him and put them in the fodder bin.
Wait. Hang on. One thing...
Have we ever seen this mic before? This is the Austin microphone and I don't recall ever seeing this one before on a figure. Certainly an interesting thought if they included TWO new microphone accessories in this!
So, hope this helps anyone wondering about this two pack. The mics are the highlight, but I also adore the headsculpt I got on mine... which is still a 2018 Kevin head on a 2022 figure. That still happened. But that's fine. I got plenty of 2017-2018 Kevins I can use it on.
